| Subwoofer in Stadium Seating Box I built a 6'x4' box to set one couch on for stadium seating. I also carpeted the box so you can't tell it's not a permanent part of the room. I just bought a JBL dual 8" in wall subwoofer and would like to cut a hole in the box and put it in there. Any advice on where on the box I should put it? The box is 12 inches high. I thought about putting it on the front of the box so it faces the couch in front of the box so everyone will feel it. My other thoughts are put it on the top of the box (facing the bottom of the couch). I'm new to this and have an Onkyo 5.1 channel reciever that will be about 15 feet away. I could use advice. Thanks | |||

| Re: Subwoofer in Stadium Seating Box Is the back side against the back wall? I would put it in the back side so its not fireing into the back side of the couch infront of the riser. Did you re enforce the riser? If its not it will shake and vibrate with the bass...which could detract from the quality and out put of the bass...but it could be a cheap butt kicker aswell. | |||

| Re: Subwoofer in Stadium Seating Box I can put the box right up against the back wall or move it up to about 18" away from it. Do I need to build a smaller box (inside the big box) around the back of the woofers? I'm worried that a 6x4 foot box will be too big. It is re-inforced, but could probably be improved (especially when I cut the hole for the woofers). Thanks for your input! | |||

| Re: Subwoofer in Stadium Seating Box I have something similar ... but I have a TSS 750 inside the riser (see picture, is not the TSS but you'll get the idea); you can feel the bass during movies ![]() By the way, I have a Velodyne VRP 1000 in the front wall right corner ... and a buttkicker on each row ![]() | |||

| Re: Subwoofer in Stadium Seating Box Put it inside the box towards the back built into it's own 2.2 cuft box. In front of the drivers make a slot that expands at the rate of 1 to 1 and vent it directly out of the front. If the sub is located 3 ft back and is x inches across you will have a horn vent that measures 3ft plus x inches and will greatly increase the efficiency of the sub. Pretty easy project as well. You could place a baffle in front of the sub and then build two vents out to either side increasing surface area and efficiency as well. | |||

| Re: Subwoofer in Stadium Seating Box Maybe its just me but for the effort id list those JBLs on Ebay and set about designing something better to take advantage of the volume of the riser I doubt those JBLs are going to provide the levels your after so i would do it once and do it rightThan again if you believe those 8's will provide enoguh bass then simple build them in and ensure they are protected and fire away Post some pictures once your done | |||

| Re: Subwoofer in Stadium Seating Box I too think you're going to be disappointed with dual 8 inch drivers . . . . dual (18") drivers would be more suitable and get you where you want to go faster. Hang the 8s on the walls for surrounds and then get yourself some Maelstroms. | |||
