Question Sub design application question....

I've been looking into the shiva-x driver at the diycable.com website and I'm a little confused at the proposed size enclosures that they recommend with a 17" port. With their proposed enclosures the air velocities which they indicate are much lower than what Winisd calculates. What application are they using?

I think they use LSPCad.

Re: Sub design application question....

they are only change the box volume and lot off poly-fill
But if you whant to go so try a box of 4,414 cu ft 4,331x 25,66 in for the vent and the velocity off the vent is around 30 and normal off poly-fill

Are you limiting the sub to 250 watts input power and applying a high pass filter at 14 hz like Diycable is doing? You need to be comparing the same parameters / restrictions.

Okay...I didn't see the 250watts. This is an ongoing effort trying to learn sub building. I see that one can change the high pass filter parameters. How does order, and q affect the outcome?

A first order high pass filter cuts at a rate of 6 db per octave. 2nd order cuts at 12 db, third order cuts at 18 db and a forth order HP filter cuts at 24 db.
