Second Sub done.

Well I finished my second sub I built one before but decided to do another as my wife bought me another driver for Xmas.I covered the enclosures before due to a subtle disapproval by the wife on it being bare. I'll list the items and dimensions involved here:

Driver: Elemental Designs 13Kv.2 (Black Cone DVC 2 Ohm)
Enclosure: 36" H x 16 W x 16" D, with 3" legs (2"x2"). Top Board is actually doubled with a 1/8" overlap.
Port: 4" ID Flared on both ends at 18 " long to give a tuning of 20Hz.
Covered with Carpet on the sides and Red Maple Vinyl Laminate from PE (good stuff)
Powered by: BASH 300S plate amp.

Well those are the components that I worked with for my humble subs and I have some mains in the works right now that's why I have my surrounds in Main duty for a bit.....Stay tuned for those. Here are the pics.

Re: Second Sub done.

They both sound great. One was already impressive but two. WOW!. The Kids have been screaming and my son has taking a liking to those twins, sees me checking them so he is constantly doing the same, and he is almost two.and my mother-in-law has yet another reason to squirm when I watch movies. (I am one of the blessed few to have a great Mother-in-law)

Re: Second Sub done.

Well it turns out like this. I had done a small sub with two 8" drivers and a Cerwin Vega plate amp I got off of ebay. The little thing performed well and as it is inevitable as the sun rising I developed the addiction. My money was not much and I got an ED EHQS 12", that is now with my dad, at first in the first enclosure of the two above. I got a BASH 300S on sale so I would be prepared for an upgrade. Just so happened around close to my birthday ED stared Free shipping on the 13Kv.2 and I really had no idea what I wanted for my birthday so I told her I wanted that so she gave me the money to order it. She realized now that the whole hose suddenly came alive. As faith would have it Xmas cam around and again I didn't know what I wanted. I told her of my intention to do another sub, I was also weary of if the price would go up on them so I said I will take one of those. Seems she didn't think about the effect it would have. Now she complains how the windows are shaking even more, I just remind her of the slogan "Just say NO!" (not that it would have made a difference since I would have just bought it myself). Now I am doing new mains since I have alot of the LFE covered there is no need for the dual 8" towers I had, doing dual 6 1/2" woofer towers instead.

Re: Second Sub done.

Hey, I'm doing a build like yours besides mine will be one enclosure. Are the dimensions you posted external or internal?

Re: Second Sub done.

Hey there these Dimensions are the external dimensions. Set up a thread with that build. I would really like to see what others come up with and even the mistakes I may have made. Like I live by "Learning Til I Die!"
