Anyone get in on that MAelstrom pre-order?

Just curious who, if anyone, got in on the Maelstrom pre-order? the price of them are just unreal... So much displacement, xbl^2 (for what it's worth), relatively low Qts for it's size... and the list goes on.

The last few months have been...very academic, so much so that I haven't even had a chance to model these drivers! lol

Well, feel free to post!

If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast!
If you don't have REW, get it now!

I'll admit I was tempted, but with 6 subs already in my HT, reality set in with the realization that I have more than enough woffage. I haven't modelled it either, but with 33 mm Xmax, I can imagine what a pair of them would produce.

We're all in this together!

It does model really well. Maybe not so great for super low tuned EBS but, for sealed it's awesome.

Exocer did you get in on it? I wanted to but I've got so much going on right now it's just not a good time.

I am really anxious to see some pics and hear some impressions of that beast. If I didn't have my FI IB going up soon it would have been mighty tempting.

The specs almost seem too good to be true, but I just couldn't resist! I ordered 2 of them because they model so well in smaller sealed boxes. It will be interesting to see how they compare with my pair of avalanche 15's for pure bass quality.

Hopefully this one's going to make me pine less for a Dayton RS460 or Peerless XLS18.
If it sounds as good as the specs indicate...it should. That le spec is something else! My avalanche 15's are in 4 cube boxes and they sound great with only 500 watts each and they have an le over 2. These maelstroms should be better.

How are some of you planning to use them? What do you plan on powering them with?

Low-Q sealed box, powered by a Crown XTi2000 for me.

With that much Vd, porting seems besides the point, and why not take advantage of the fact that it will give one very nice Qtc values in reasonably-sized enclosures?
I agree but the pr idea in about 8 cubes is tempting......I'm just not sure I want to spring for the them. Sealed is going to be way more than I will probably use (it sure is fun though!). I just need to decide on an amp (or amps) to push these. How do you like the quality of your Crown Xti?
