U-Frame subwoofer build

Hi ALl here at the shack

I have just finished my first subwoofer build. It is two U-Frame woofers based on the LAT-500 driver.

Here comes some pictures of the build process and the final result. I'm very pleased with the sound so far. I'm still breaking the drivers in, but the sound is very clear so that's cool. Looking forward to the drivers have been broken in

Re: U-Frame subwoofer build

Thank you very much. I'm also quite pleased with it myself
I'm seriously considering to apply some front cover (fabric) to cover the, not so pretty, LAT-500. Also in white.

Really? I think the curve of the Lat50 matches the curves on the cabinets.

How do the Lat-50's sound? Are there any differences in how they sound compared to a traditional driver?

Yes I want to cover them up. I don't think they are that gracefull, but I intend to make the cover removeable.

As this is my first dipole I have not much to compare to, but the bass is really precise and very clear. No boom-boom bass at all.
The design (of the driver) also makes it very easy to incoorporate them into smaller designs. This cabinet is 40cm x 40cm x 25cm and is 100% stable even at very high SPL's. The cabinet walls really does NOT play along so-to-speak.
If you put your hand on the speaker they are completely stable - No vibrations.

NICE WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! Where did you purchase your LAT-500 driver? This would be a great driver to work with my Maggies for music listening.

Nice to see...i've been considering the lat 250s but I think they would be to small.

Re: U-Frame subwoofer build

I have also considered to use those in an application, but their Fs is quite high, but again if they do midrange well it could be a cool combination with a ribbon.

Could generate a quite high WAF, if that is a critiria....
