TC Sounds Bankrupt

There have been rumors for awhile about the demise of TC Sounds and today it became official. Hopefully some company will pick up the LMS technology and continue with it.

I'm not sure how this will affect AudioPulse. I guess time will tell.

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

for sure audiopulse is affected, actually.. im not sure, audiopulse's are all tc sound's subwoofers with the audiopulse name... so, if tc sound bankrupt that means audiopulse bankrupt also...

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

I'm pretty sure the LMT technology patent has not been granted as of yet.

Like has been mentioned, since AP is a division of TC Sounds, I can't see how they aren't done as well.

It's too bad really. The LMS drivers didn't really get to show their stuff until people realized how low the distortion was with Ilkka's tests. For me it was already too late at that point. If it'd been known a year earlier I have no doubt I'd have purchased a pair.

It will be interesting to see who takes up the patents and how much they pay for it...

The second link... go down and read Woofys posts

Probably something along the lines of not enough sales... the availablility of cheaper Chinese manufactured speakers etc etc Not to mention the number of speakers that currently exist in the US market... Besides their subs were expensive... Now you get what you pay for but it still positioned them in an bad position

Poor TC but in reality thats the way it is... America no longer has an advantage over the Asian powerhouses in such manufactured goods and there for cannot compete... So they go bankrupt

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

I have a feeling that the AP line won't be affected and was created as a way to continue doing business while erasing debt. Thats how corporations operate and are protected against creditors. New shareholders, name, etc. I know i wouldn't put much stock in lifetime warranties like others did on the TC line.

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

I don't think it's going to work though. They are selling the patents off, so how could AP continue to use them once they are bought by someone else? The TC site still links directly to the AP site and is listed as the obvious parent company. Also there has been no sign of life out of AP in a LOOONG time. Definately forget about any kind of lifetime warranty. I held out hope 4 as long as I could

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

According to a sub manufacturer whose subs were supplied by AudioPulse, he is unable to contact anybody fron there. He is now looking for a new supplier. It appears AudioPulse is done as well.

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

I've heard that Thilo is going to be trying to buy the patents back at the auction on the AP forum. Even if he does it doesn't matter much... for the DIYer they're pretty much out due to price anyway. He might not even be able to get suppliers to sell to him since he'll have already had a bankruptcy with one company where at least one supplier was posting on the AP forum and other forums about the money owed to them.

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

What a shame another great subwoofer driver manufacturer is going by the wayside. Do you think it's because of the move to Audiopulse or do you think AP was a last minute attempt to save an already failing TC?

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

AP was a last minute move IMOP. I really do think that they had the best line-up of subwoofer drivers available.

Yes but they stuffed up their market predictions, great subs yes but they priced themselves out of the DIY market Something went really wrong somewhere... Well probably never know what really happened inside TC sounds

I know what went wrong. TC sounds should have moved the production to china a long time ago and not to try to keep the made in USA flag on their products. The fact is even though some people think that I'm not going to buy anything else than domestic products, the rest doesn't care and they only care about cheap products.

I do also think that TC sounds had the best product lineup to date. But hey, things are not as bad as they seem. Luckily there are couple of rising stars(EA, CCS) with upcoming some great stuff.

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

Anidabi,
I know there are some great driver mfg's in Europe. Is anybody making high performance subs over there? Comparable to CSS, Fi, or TC? Also are Scanspeak, Vifa, etc actually made in Europe, or are they Chinese sourced too?

Re: TC Sounds Bankrupt

Was SVS their big customer being the (I think) the T-V 12 in their "Ultra"?

and less important, did the contract go bad/run out between SVS and TC-Sounds?
