Do you want each driver in it's own box?

There appears to be different specs listed for the the same driver from different websites. Do you have a link to where you got these drivers from?

Thanks for info. What are your plans for this driver, are you wanting to get the most bass possible from it?

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

Yes, I would love to get the best bass from it..I was thinking of making them into just sub woofers, or maybe a pair in a tower, what do you think..with a mid and a tweeter,, so probably 2 subs and 2 towers...what do u suggest..Basically I have a lot of woofers, and tweeters and would love to make the best of it..thanks.

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

As for adding mids and tweeters you'll have to ask in the DIY Speakers forum as I'm not the one for that. I do know that depending on what mid and tweeter you use you'll need the proper crossover.

The sub models to 40 liters tuned to 38 hz for a single sub and 80 liters tuned to 38 hz for 2 subs in one cabinet. For the single you'll need a port 3" diameter and 7" long. For the dual subs you'll need two 3" diameter and 7" long or a port 4" diameter and 5.25" long.
Power handling would be 75 watts 4 ohms for the single and 300 watts for the dual if they're wired in series for an 8 ohm load. They both need a Hi-Pass filter at 30 hz to prevent them from bottoming out at the lower frequencies.

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

Using 3/4" building material it would be about a 18.5" cube. You can figure out the box volume and dimensions here:

http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...me-calculator/

Some pro amps have a HPF at 30 hz, check the manual on the Crown XLS 602D, it may have one.

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

Hi mike, I have just received the ports from PE, and they are 3.75 inches X 7.65 inches. I dont know how I miss-calculated this, can I do anything with them, as I would want to use them in a single woofer cabinet, and what are my options with a double woofer cabinet using these ports..Thanks.

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

A 3.75" diameter port would need to be 11.75" long for a single cabinet, and would require 2 ports for a double cabinet. Using the ports as they are would raise the tuning to 45 hz with less low end output as shown in the graph below.

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

So, I can use these ports, I just gotta put some extension to the rear end of the port, and it should get me a good bass response..The dimensions I am thinking of are 12(d)X12(W)X36(h), Is there any position that I need to maintain for the woofer and the port..as you can see I am a beginner at this, would appreciate all the minute details as possible..Thanks a lot and sorry for all the trouble.

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

Yes. just extend the port 4" and you'll maintain the 38 hz tuning. The ports should be one diameter (3.75") away from any wall of the sub. Mount the subs anyway you want, if down firing the legs should be 4" long.

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

Great..thanks once again. Truly appreciate the help. What do you think of the measurements I gave you, the same applied on a 3/4 inch of MDF. Is it ok, for the driver, as I already have these boxes, and was planning to use the same, insted of making new ones.

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

The box can work. Green is with 2 drivers tuned to 40 hz. A single 3.75" port would need to be 5.75" long. Orange is with 1 driver in the box tuned to 34 hz. A single 3.75" port would need to be 9" long. The same power input and Hi-Pass filter applies as above.

What is your source, a receiver? If so what make and model?

You need a subsonic filter at 30hz, can the Yamaha provide that?

Re: Tang Band W69-1042M project

SWITCHABLE SUBSONIC FILTER
This filter allows you to roll-off content below 15Hz, eliminating potentially harmful turntable rumble during phono play.

The above is what's mentioned on the manual.
