| Re: Box for Tumult 15D2 3ft^3 (91Cm ft^3) would be a nice balance between efficiency and power handling. You wouldn't have to worry about exceeding Xmax, which will ensure great sound quality even up to your amplifier's maximum capabilities. ![]() If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast! | Re: Box for Tumult 15D2 Going ported is also an option. ![]() Much larger box, but since your listening habits favor HT, why not get some free output down low from a port? ![]() If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast! If you don't have REW, get it now! | |||

| Re: Box for Tumult 15D2 15 Hz tune with only 250 L can only be achieved either by too small a port diameter (which will lead to port noise and compression well before the shown SPL graph), or by too long a port which would be unpractical to fit!! My opinion is to go for minimum a 18 Hz tune and a six" port. Blaser | |||

| Re: Box for Tumult 15D2 really? a 32" long 6" diameter port doesn't present port air issues until below 20hz...With a precision dual flared port, air velocity may even be lower than suggested graphs. Honestly, I don't see why one wouldn't go with a 15 hz tune but to each his own. ![]() as for length, I guess it would depend on the shape of the enclosure. | Re: Box for Tumult 15D2 Thanks Exocer, Indeed going higher than 15 Hz would be just for practical reasons, nothing more.... How would you fit a 6" 86 cm long pipe in a 270 Liters box.... It is not only about single dimension (length) but the port needs 6" everywhere around to breath properly. Maybe a sonotube, but in a box I think the tube would have to go past the enclosure. Moreover, you should change the Qp to 5 (keeping port air velocity never exceed 26 m/s) to have a realistic simulation, keeping things fair. This will show port compression in the SPL graph. | Re: Box for Tumult 15D2 If somehow he could get his hands on a 20" diameter sonotube it could work...I Do however see it pointless now to tune to 15hz...he'll barely get more extension in a 250liter effective enclosure and it will introduce some difficulty in the overall project...but we're not stuck at 250liters either. He doesn't specify size constraints. But yeah, just throwing a little project idea out there.. ![]() If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast! If you don't have REW, get it now! | |||
