| Is my subwoofer broken ? I just bought a M&K MX100 subwoofer. The problem is when I try to increase the volume via the min/max knob on the back, the speakers rattle or shake enough to move the furniture. It stops when I quite turning the knob and seems to operate fine, but since I really don't know anything about subs, I thought someone may know if there's a problem with it. Any advice:help will be appreciated. newbiedave ![]() | |||

| Re: Is my subwoofer broken ? Patient: Doctor, my neck hurts when I hold my head like this. Doctor: Then don't do that. Seriously, if it works fine once you quit playing with the knob, it's probably just a dirty volume control. Subwoofer plate amps are generaly set-it-and-forget-it devices. Once you get it calibrated, you should have no reason to play with it...you can make smalll "season to taste" adjustments using the trim controls in your receiver/processor. You can attempt to clean it. Disconnect from power and simply turn the knob from min to max repeatedly...no magic number of times. If you're really determined, you can pull the amp from the cabinet and go at the volume pot with some compressed air. -Brent | |||
