Now where is everyone getting the Adire Tempest subs from?

Re: Adire Tempest

You can't get the Adire Tempest anymore unless you can find a used one. DIYCable has the Exodus Tempest-X which is an XBL^2 driver which people have started using. I'm not sure how similar it is to the Adire Tempest, but from all reports it is a great driver at a great price.

Re: Adire Tempest

Geoff - Ok, I figure there was an alternative

As for subs, recently I got a Cadence (2 days ago) and I am enjoying it, but at times I get some baffle sound, which from when I talked to Cadence he said "Muddy" sound.
The tech @ Cadence told me that the driver that in the CSX-15 is basically a Dayton Classic 15", but did not comment if it was the "Dayton". However it does look like it (at least from the picture off parts express).
Anyways - the tech told me that if I wanted to, I can replace the sub w/ either the Dayton RSS390HO or RSS390HF. He said both of these driver w/ that box and amp would be a better choice for improving sound and get rid of the muddy sound I kind of hear (at times).
He said by what I want, he recommend that I get the RSS390HF.

Since I been looking at Tempest and this one you mentioned above (that link), How would this Tempest-X 15 be comparable to either one of the two Daytons that I was recommended. I don't understand these specs , lol?

Re: Adire Tempest

There is a big difference between the RSS390HF and the Tempest-X. The tempest-X has twice the Xmax. Either sub needs a specifc size box to get the most out of them. Whether the Tempest is right for your application depends on what size box you have. More info is needed to determine a recommendation. How big is the Cadence sub? What is the model number?

Sure no problem. The model number is CSX-15

Re: Adire Tempest

I do want to mention that the Cadence rep is very proud of is there AMPs on these cabinets. He told me a secret and not to mention his name if I put it out; which I didn't. ~ But he said this AMP can go down to a 1.5 ohm load, but do admit it will for sure accept 2ohm and did not hesitate w/ the response. Not sure if this really matters.... but.....I just wanted to let you know

Re: Adire Tempest

The Cadence sub box internal net volume is about 2.5 cubic feet which is too small for the Tempest-X. Are you willing to build a bigger box or do you just want to use the box you have?

I don't have the tools to make a box right now (all I have is a jig saw, scroll saw), plus I just got this 2 days ago. Overall I am happy, but I want more range, so the fellas at Cadence listened to my wants and needs and put their suggestion for me. So yea... I prefer to use this cabinet right now, but I am willing to go w/ a better driver if possible.

Suggestions? Would you say just go w/ the Dayton?

Re: Adire Tempest

The RSS390HO-4 models much better then the RSS390HF in such a small enclosure. Before you replace anyrthing I suggest you try different sub placements to see if this will make a difference in the sound.

Well I have 3 sided wall. behind the HT / chairs is the half wall (loft / game room).

I have the sub in the right front corner(now). Maybe putting the sub at near field and behind me maybe right rear corner?

Re: Adire Tempest

Try moving the sub away from the corners of the room and see what difference it makes. Also try different locations in the room.

Re: Adire Tempest

Mike - ok, need a beer right about now

So anyways. I found that keeping the sub where it was, but moved it up forward away from wall 10" and moved the sub 7" away from right side of the wall, then lowered the amp level, turned the bass boost to +3 and now this sub is clean!!

This amp is by far as Cadence told me has more power then the sub can handle.

What I did was borrow this kids BASS cd from work (young kid , around 19 yrs old and has 4- 10" XXX's in a Mitsu Eclipse and recommend me tuned my sub w/ this BASS BOY and Tech-Master PEB cd's.

Let me say.. [Wow!]!!!!! Talk about BOOM []!!

Well, here is my happy settings:

Oh I know the HZ is little high and these cds probably won't hit that range, but dang!! Love'in it!!

Thanks for all your help

Re: Adire Tempest

Mike, glad you're happy.

Just a thought though, since you were considering upgrading drivers. That cabinet is ported, which makes picking a suitable driver a little more complex unless you seal the port. Otherwise, you'll need to determine the exact net air volume of the cabinet. Using the volume and the port width, height and length, you can calculate the tuning frequency to use when running models for potential replacements.

Re: Adire Tempest

I guess that just goes to show you how important placement is with all speakers. I should really think about moving my (original) Tempest around, since it's in the corner now, and a little boomier than I'd like. The only problem is I don't have too many options or open areas... but your success with a small movement has inspired me to try little shifts!

Re: Adire Tempest

it does make a diff just to move it that little from the wall. Each day it just sounds better and better.

As for my setting, I did switch to bypass on the amp and not low-pass
