M21 Arrived

They arrived today and all I've really had a chance to do is get the warehouse squared away and pop one out of the box for a little exercise before I head home for the night.

I knew I was in trouble as I tried to mount it on my standard sawhorse 2x4 mounting jig. It wasn't going to fit...... so I pulled out the second set of sawhorses and with a little work of the miter saw modified my jig so the big guy would mount up.

It is difficult to take good pictures that show the scale of these big subs. One of the most common comments I get from people is that they didn't realize how big it was going to be.

Anyway... my first meager attempt to show the scale of this beast. In the upper right side you have a high-excursion Seas 6.5" midwoofer. Front and center.... the big boy.

Here is my first lame attempt to get a video. I need to build a better jig before I can get too crazy with it.

Re: M21 Arrived

this might help get the scale for you Kevin, in a completed box that is.

here are my phl 18's with a 6,5 phl mid...and as you go 'up' in size they really seem to get big!

So people can 'extrapolate' to a 21 from my 18's.

(excuse the poor washed out photo)

EEEffffff yes!

Came in just in time for the weekend. Hope the T/S specs haven't changed too much from your preliminary specs posted a while back. You mentioned something about the Sd and Qts being a little higher, probably. No matter, this is gonna be sweet. Can't wait to get my hands on these bad boys.

I think the size of a cd/DVD is something everyone can relate to. Sit one on the dustcap next time you have your camera handy!

Looks sweet!

Re: M21 Arrived

Thats just plain outrageous! I showed my wife that photo and she just doesn't get it. I have only once seen a larger driver up close and that was a 24" driver in a sub that was built for our electronic organ at our old church. They had to put 8 sandbags on top of the box in order to keep it from wandering around the cement floor in the organ loft.

Home theater:
Onkyo TXSR805, Samson Servo 300 amp
Mission 765 Mains, 4-762i's Surrounds, AR center PSC25, SVS PB13 Ultra & A/D/S MS3u sub
2 Audio control C131 EQ's, Toshiba XA2, Panasonic BD60, Pioneer LD
Sanyo Z4 pj, Viewsonic N3235w 32" HDTV

Two Channel system:
Yamaha RXV995, Mission 764i's, Yamaha YST FSW100 sub
Yamaha KX-393 Tape deck, CDC 805 CD changer, Samsung BDP1400, Sony turntable PS-T20, Nintendo Wii
Sony KP-53HS30 HDTV, Motorola HD-PVR

Re: M21 Arrived

@ the video, good stuff...

I don't push that hard but I've had that happen before. The jig needs some weight added, like cinder blocks on each end of the 2x4 or sandbags. And the woofer needs mounted to the 2x4's. It's likely most of the noise is the sawhorses tapping on the floor.

If you were the QC guy at the build house I'd have to

Did I mention that I do free T&E in exchange for product? And that I have an new shipping address? PM me for the new one... No??? What's that?....

I'm anxious to see some build logs with the 21"

Looks good Kevin. Are there any updates on the Sicko?

Thank goodness there are people like Kevin around - that is beautiful

That driver looks solid and is extremely well ventilated. For anyone considering a DIY sub, I think this driver just became the top of the list.

Ab-so-'-lutely! For the same price of a 18" LMS you could get a pair of these and mop the floor with the LMS.

I just hope the price hasn't inflated since the last estimate.
