Mal-X Power Requirements

To All You Mal-X Owners:

I just got a Mal-X and plan to run it sealed in about a 5 cu. ft. box. Any recommendations on what would be a good starting point on how much power I would need? 1000W? 1500W? 2000W?

Room is about 2500 sq. ft.

Do not listen at reference levels (wife won't allow it)

Sub is used for music and movies.

Don't want to spend more than $350 for amplification (used or new).

Thanks in advance.

The EP4000 would be your best bet.

Coming out of an AVM 30 pre/pro. Will I need a CleanBox and some EQ?

Get as much power as you can afford. The EP-4000 is replacing the EP-2500 as the cheap low-cost high-power solution. You may not need EQ depending upon your room.

Thanks.

I'll pick up a 4000. Would the Rekhorn B1 or B2 be suitable for use as eq?

The B1 would boost the low end and provide a Hi-Pass filter. It will also boost the input voltage if your receiver has low input voltage.
