Hi everyone,

I have a 57 inch HLR model set with the following symptoms. When I turn it on there is a pause for several seconds and then a click. The lamp then lights and the color wheel which I already replaced spins, but I get no image on the screen at all.
The lamp indicator flashes on the front of the set and the lamp stays on for a minute or so and then the set shuts down and I get the standby/temp indication on the front.

Any ideas?

I received this set with these problems and would like to repair it for a gaming set.

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me how to do the adjustments needed after replacing the sub board in a PCN5425R? I have the service manual, but it doesn't seem very helpful. There are a number of basic adjustments shown in the service manual with the corresponding screen changes (on page 4-11), such as H size, pin phase and pin amp, that are nowhere to be found in the service mode menus. Are the ones not listed in the menus on VRs somewhere internally? If so how do I find them?

Also, why can't I adjust any of the settings in the 480p or 1080i offset menus? Are these values added to the corresponding settings from the deflection menu or do they override? There is an awful lot the service manual doesn't explain.

I'd also like to do the "screen adjustment" on page 4-12, but I can't locate test points RK, GK, BK or potentiometers VR501, VR531, VR561. The manual has no board layouts!!

One more thing: am I going to need to do the beam alignment adjustment after replacing a sub board? I know already that I'll need to do a lot of work on the convergence adjustments (it's just that first I have to figure out how to do the H size and pin amp). Any others I'll need to go through?

Sorry for so many questions!

Thanks,
Kyle

We have a HLN5065W1X/XAA 50" DLP TV, and it keeps shutting off automatically. We had a service tech come out and replace all parts, including bulb, digital board, color wheel, basically the entire inside except the power supply and buttons were replaced. It worked for a few days, but then started shutting off again. Any suggestions on what else it could possibly be?

Hi,

I've a 5 year old HLR4667W that was working great till about a few months ago. Initially, i would see picture freezing at times, but now its frequency is increasing to the extent that it's getting on our nerves. During the time of this picture lockup, audio seems fine. After a few seconds, the picture will go black, and then come back on. When in this freeze mode, i cannot switch sources, or operate anything.

Another thing that i noticed was when the TV is switched on, it works fine till about 30 mins ... and then the problem starts.

Here is a pic of the problem ... would -greatly- appreciate any help. I really don't want to spend another $1000+ this thanksgiving!

Oh, one more thing that i noticed recently. Normally when starting, i would hear a startup tone. I don't hear that anymore .. dunno if that'll help in troubleshooting.

I have a samsung hcm4215w which was made in november of 2002. I am able to manually move the red and blue convergence in all directions through the menu, i can get them lined up decently good but they do not stay for long. They slowely misalign, i would have to adjust 5 times just to watch a movie. I have tried saving them after i adjust and going to different menus to try to adjust them. So i took out my convergence board, i have stk392-040 irs. I dont see any blown pico fuses or anything that looks fishy. I dont know if changing these would fix my problem, i dont know which reputable source to order them from. Also i have never soldered before but believe i could do it. Do i just need to replace the IRs or resisters and fuses? lcaillo please help!

My HDMI input quit working recently on my HL-R5067WX/XAA TV. The component and all other inputs work fine, it's just the HDMI that has a problem. When it first happened the entire screen was pinkish purple, but now it just doesn't work at all. I tried hooking up both my Dish Network DVR and my DVD player but neither work. I also tried a new hdmi cable with no luck.

Any ideas short of taking it to a repair shop?
Thanks for any input.

I have a Samsung PCL5415R RPTV. There is a convergence problem. My question is I have researched this and found 2 repair options. One is replacing stk ic's and the other is sub deflection board. My funds are very limited so I would really appreciate an expert to help clarify this repair. My abilities are sufficient to do this repair, but want to make sure I do the correct one. It seems the red color has gone hay wire. Ghosting really bad. Started on sides and has been creeping towards center to the point we can stand to watch it. Any response will be greatly appreciated. Great site by the way!!!

My dlp has intermittently turned itself off then back on with a funny whining noise. The other day, it did this but instead of turning off and on just once it kept turning itself off and on over and over. My tv is just out of warranty (by a few months) So I am doing the repairs myself. From all of the research I have done everything has told me to start with a new bulb because mine is over a year old and well used at that. But the noise item was leading me a different way. I played around and watched trying to find the noise. It lead me to the ballast and more specifically one item on the ballast (capacitor maybe?) I am attaching a photo of my ballast with the culprit circled. When it makes the noises this item also lights up.
Simple questions, has anyone else had this problem and is it a bad ballast?

Convergence adjust - squeal and shutdown

Samsung SP43W6HF has a convergence problem. In the manual convergence (service) section, Green was showing a double image...

Samsung SP43W6HF has a convergence problem. In the manual convergence (service) section, Green was showing a double image in the horizontal plane in some parts of the grid. Found bad resistors on the convergence board -replaced. Auto-convergence not effective, so I had a good play with the manual convergence. By doing a massive horizontal adjustment to green I could almost get the double image to go away. TV ran for about a half-hour, then let out a good squeal and shut down - oops. Burnt a pair of 3.9 ohm resistors on the green channel that I had replaced, so I replaced again. TV still squeals and shuts down after startup, but not with the convergence board unplugged. Supply to the CG board is 28.6V on one rail and 30.2V on the other - does that seem OK or do should they be exactly the same?

Ordered some new CG amps (STK392-040) and removed the original amps. With the amps removed, the TV will run with the CG board connected, but I don't just want to chuck the new amps in and fire up. Assuming that way too much offset to the green horizontal caused the shutdown, I checked the DC offset on all channels. Adjusted them to as near to zero as I could get, but could not get red horizontal closer to zero than 320mV, and blue horizontal no closer than -260mV. Does this explain the problem with the green horizontal double image? Have I broken something in the convergence generator?

Any help appreciated, thanks.
