Sized and styled to match Denon’s DRA-CX3 AM/FM tuner/amplifier, the DCD-CX3 is a true audiophile CD player, with precision design and engineering to extract the maximum musical enjoyment from your favorite CDs, and features Super Audio CD playback for the ultimate listening experience. Inside the DCD-CX3’s elegant enclosure, the rugged vibration-resistant chassis features independent power supplies for the analog and digital sections including separate power transformers for each, eliminating interference for the widest possible dynamic range and musical detail. As well, the DCD-CX3 features Denon’s renowned AL24 Processing, which extracts hidden details that transforms the listening experience. In addition, the Pure Direct mode turns off unnecessary circuits and disables the front panel display for maximum fidelity. The output terminals feature machined brass gold plated connectors for compatibility with audiophile grade interconnects, and an optical digital output is provided to connect to an external digital recorder. The slimline remote control features elegant styling with a layout designed for ease of use.
As you can see this is quite a compact player but boy does it weigh a lot more than actually looks, I am waiting for some Arcam players to come in but thought I would give this beautiful little player a spin over this weekend and it is extremely impressive with both CD and SACD, the disc draw is of similar design to the flagship A1UD Blu-Ray player and glides open without any noise that a lot players are prone to...

Going to get a Klipsch THX Ultra2 5.0 system (got my LLT subs), but need to power it.

I currenty have a Denon 4308 receiver, but even though the receiver is rated at 140W and the Klipsch system is pretty sensitive, I think I need more power,

The EP2500 is dirt cheap and unbreakable, but can it perform in a LCR setting?
I've been recommended the DSi1000 for the job. It's about twice the price here, and I need at least two of them, which makes it just out of my financial range at the moment.

How much better is the Crown?

I want to buy my Dad a record for the holidays. I've found 2 options, and I'm not sure which would be best in terms of sound quality, so please let me know what you think:

Option 1: Sealed UK pressing
Option 2: Sealed 180 g pressing (does playing this require any modification/special equipment for one's record player?)

Thanks in advance for any help!

I am looking at two tube amps for purchase that will be for music only. Pre-pro will be a Denon 988 AVR with a Sony CD 200 CD changer in then pre out to tube amp. I have dedicated 1 of the channels on the AVR for this.
Speakers are B&W 805s.
For consideration is:
Jolida 502a 350.00
Yaqin VK-2100 300.00
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Signal path will be the CD via optical to the AVR (to take advantage of the superior Burr Brown DACs in the AVR) then pre-out to the tube amp then to the speakers.
Thanks

Are my DACs up to the task?

First, thank you for vewing and sharing your thoughts on this post with me.
After several months of research and thought, I decided my next upgrade would be a music-streaming device. I looked at the Sonas, Transporter, Squeeze Box, ( single room application) and am looking forward to checking out the Logitech Touch that just came out. Several have told me that it would offer me a wider range of flexibility if I just got the transport without the built in DAC’s, like the Sexy Transporter, and added a separate DAC of my choice, after thought I can see where they have an excellent point.
So Question? How about if I just let the Burr Browns (24-bit/192-KHz PCM-1791) that are included in my Denon 988 do the job and save money to boot. What kind of quality of sound can I expect? CD quality?
Thanks again

This integrated amp has been a faithful companion for the past 30 years of my life. I recently took the cover off and noticed leakage from some of the capacitors.
I have to wonder if it has gradually deteriorated (it still sounds good, but it is hard to know if it it as good as it could be), or if I may be risking a catastrophic failure.
So I would like to get it reconditioned.
Please advise re: a good source for this job, as well as what should be done to recondition it. I will get photos if that is helpful.
I can ship, but would be willing to drive a good distance to avoid the risk of damage. I live in Woodstock; north of Atlanta (not too far from Chattanooga) if anyone knows of a good shop for this job in my area. I am not looking for museum quality restoration, but cost-effective reconditioning.
Thanks in advance for your help!
