Home Audio Subwoofers is for discussion of manufactured subwoofers. Ask questions, compare subs and post reviews of your favorite subwoofer. Check out the Master List of DVD Movies with BASS thread to see which scenes will test your sub. SVS subs should be discussed in the SVSound forum.

Yesturday, I noticed my SW was not kicking on from "auto-on" position. I switched it to the "on" position still nothing. I finally got it to kick in after turning the volume up close to reference level. Since then, it has been behaving as it usual.
Could the amplifier have the beginnings of a problem? Was this a fluke?
I have an Epik Phoenix that is about 6 months old.

Thanks

12" High Output eD Subwoofer
Built on a proven platform with 15+MM one way excursion you get more bass in less space! The subwoofer driver utilized in the A2-300 subwoofer is capable of subtle nuances as well as reproducing a great deal of impact.

4 Step Seamless Proprietary eD Finish
A proprietary finish (done right in Iowa) coats the A2-300; this finish provides an incredibly strong rugged finish that actually creates a skin on the cabinet. This skin stands up to everything from a friend putting a pop can on your cabinet to your children’s toys.

Built in 200w Amplifier
Your A2-300 comes with a 200 watt amplifier full of features to tune to your needs. From the built in crossover to phase control, we have insured there is plenty of power packed into this subtle looking subwoofer.

CAD Designed & CNC Cut Right in eD's Iowa factory
Our HT equipment is designed with the latest in computer and design technology to yield accuracy (including our CNC) to .001" giving us consistent response and results in every single cabinet.

Flush Assembly Techniques
The A2-300 is designed to look at home in your living room. This means that the port, amplifier, and speaker don’t stick out to create an out of place look. Everything is designed to create a seamless look and sound; form doesn't always have to follow function, even with your subwoofer.

No Cost Spared Spikes
No plastic or cheap home depot solutions here. Just 1.5" long solid precision machined spikes.

No Expense Spared Cabinet Design
It doesn't stop with precision design and manufacturing; we take it further even by building a 2.25” base to give the A2-300 a incredibly low center of gravity. This is another perfect example of what happens when die-hard enthusiasts get their hands on the development and manufacturing process.

Patented Precision Tuned Port
Just for your A2-300 subwoofer the patented tuned aeroport allows fantastic airflow without port noise.

Recessed Down Firing Subwoofer
The subwoofer driver in the A2-300 cabinet is recessed into the bottom baffle boards 1.5” to allow ample clearances in front of the driver. Match that with 1.5” of clearance from the included spikes and you’ll never have to worry about your subwoofer having any sort of clearance issues.

Please point me to a reference for interpreting the "group delay" and "spectral decay" charts. I have some ideas on the group delay chart, but the spectral decay has me totally miffed!

Thanks!

Everything I hear about the Rythmik subs sounds great. However, I am troubled by the THD chart as measured by Ilkka (4th chart in the link below). Am I interpreting it wrong?
PS- I am actually looking at the F12G, but this is the closest I can find. Would there be differences (aside from the GR driver extending into higher frequencies)?

As noted in my other thread, I am looking for a subwoofer for 100% music. Actually, I am now looking for a pair. I also have WAF concerns and big black behemoths would not work. I don't especially care about earth-shaking "impact" or "slam". Peaks in the low 90dB range is as loud as I listen, and it wouldn't bother me if the sub didn't extend below the mid-upper 20Hz range. I have a pair of Focal Solo6 Be speakers which are very accurate and articulate and would like the subs to maintain this precise tightness/damping into the lower octave.

1) SVS SB12-Plus at $1350/pair
2) Rythmik F12G at $1350/pair (Is there a less expensive option? I don't want to build cabinets from scratch, but would not mind assembly from a kit. Cut-outs for amp and driver would not be a big deal.)
3) Epik Vanquish at $1100/pair
4) Martin Logan Abyss at $975/pair

I would appreciate your thoughts and advice on these.
Thanks!

I am building a dedicated HT room. Although I will also naturally play music also, but to a far lesser degree.
My equipment so far
Denon AVP-A1HD
Elektra T7 amplifier
Audyssey Sub EQ
JMlab 1027BEs
JMlab C1000BE

My room is only small at 17.4' x 13.5' and sloped ceiling. Giving a volume of around 2000ft3

The walls are solid plastered brick, with cement floor. The room is completel enclosed.

Now I really want 2 subs to address with room modes.

Due to space restrictions the larger subs will fit, but placement will be limited.

Choices

SVS PB13ultra x2 approx $3000AUD ea
Submersive x2 approx $3000AUD ea
JL F112 x2 $3610 ea
JL f113 x2 $4700 ea
others ??

The first two are obviously cheaper, but much larger.

I realise the JLs don't extend as low as the first two, but will that be a problem in a room of this size? I am expecting room gain to significantly increase this.

I have been offered a very good deal on the JLs, but time is ticking.

I would be grateful for peoples thoughts.

I should note that I am located in Australia, so not all the subs are available that are in the US. The Seaton would need to be imported, but wouldn't cost that much

Cheers
Jamie

Limited-Choice SW Recommendations?

I'm seeking recommendations for a second budget-priced SW, to round out my 7.1 system in a 3900cf family room. Main constraint was "no speakers, no wires" showing, so main components (Large Advents, 8" Yamaha SW, BIC center channel, Sony STRDG920 and accessories) are all hidden behind color-matched Acoustical Solutions fabric in a 10' granite-faced fireplace surround with inset 52" Samsung LCD.

I negotiated a second SW spot by creating a custom corner cabinet slotted along the floor for sound output; suboptimal but well positioned to smooth bass response in the room. This restricts my choices to a downward-firing SW no more than 18.5" high; or an upside-down horn with 3-4" outlet if such exists.

Candidates so far are the BIC V-1220 (JUST fits) and Yamaha SW315. Other suggestions and comments welcomed!
