IB3 series added to web store.

The IB3 series is based off of the current "IB18" driver and now comes in 18", 15", and 12" versions. Coils available are single 2 Ohm and single 4 Ohm. As the previous drivers were "stocked" the new IB3 series will now be custom made at the time of purchase like all other Fi Audio drivers. Normal lead times are 3-5 business days plus ship time.
As with the last IB drivers, there is a discount for purchases of 4 or more at one time. This discount will be take when you check out.

We will be adding all driver specs over the next couple of days as well as the smaller IB2 series which expands upon the smaller IB15 driver (utilizing the smaller 2" coil and motor and available in 12" and 15" sizes with either single 2 Ohm or single 4 Ohm coils)

Thanks to all the HTS members that have made the IB drivers a success and those that helped push me to make them an "easily" available item

Glad to see that the IB sub is now easy to order and more importantly I like the 2 or 4 ohm option. Good job!

Are the t/s parameters for the IB3 going to be uploaded anytime soon?

The T/S Parameters are here. I will also add those to our WinISD downloads as well.

Of course keeping in mind that they are customizable as well if you wanted different parameters.

Re: IB3 series added to web store.

That link in my previous post is from the first IB drivers. I was under the impression that the IB18 and the IB3 18 were basically the same, and would have the same parameters, unless you wanted them customized. However, I am uncertain if this is actually the case. It at least is evident that the 15 is different since the Xmax changed from 22mm to 30mm.

I suppose I am confused as to what needs to be customized on an IB driver. I would assume there is but one way to optimize it for IB. So I am curious for an explanation.

Maybe we can get Scott here today to help clear things up.

It is my intentions to order 4 of the IB3 18's. I might also get the Dayton WT3 tester and simply test the IB3 18's for the parameters. I would think thought that someone has ordered some of these and Scott would have tested them himself so that he could provide some parameters. We'll just have to wait and see.

Re: IB3 series added to web store.

I believe that the IB3 18" is the same IB18 as before. The 12 and 15" IB3's are new and use the same motor and coil as the original 18" hence the 30mm xmax. The older IB15 which had 22mm xmax has a different smaller 2"vc and motor. That is the 12 and 15" IB2 now. I think.

It would be best to wait until Scott posts the parameters for the new IB3 series to make sure.

Re: IB3 series added to web store.

My understanding is the parameters for the IB3 are different. I had issues modeling the old ones and Scott said to hold off and wait until the parameters for the new IB3 are released.

Re: IB3 series added to web store.

Originally we only had the IB15 and IB18 drivers... the IB18 used a 3" coil and the 15" a 2" coil. Different motors and power handling for both. We had also made a running change on the IB18 to a standard motor with a tighter gap in order to optimize the cost on the drivers. The original motor was something we use for a few OEM clients and we had to open the top plate up to scrub of motor strength to get the Qts where we wanted it. As steel and all parts costs keep going up and up (and we cut the price close as it was) moving to a tighter gap and a double stack motor to recoup costs made sense. Same specs/performance at that.

Now... we split the original 18" with a 3" coil into a its own series, the "IB3" and are finishing up splitting the 15" wit the 2" coil into its own series called the "IB2". Since we have had a solid jump in inquiries regarding the IB drivers and applications (a HUGE increase in car audio applications in the past 6 months) we figured it was time to move it from the "niche" driver section of building them solely because I enjoy the application, to a full fledged series on the site. This has also made it easier to order as well.

Specs for the IB3 are:
12S2 12S4 15S2 15S4 18S2 18S4

We are working on several things for the site and apologize for not getting them up sooner. We will have the IB2 series finished up and ready to go in a couple of weeks as well (waiting for the new spiders to come in) and will get them on the site with specs in Jan.

Ill make a new post and sticky it for the IB3 specs (as well as make it easier to sort through) later tonight.

Thanks,
Scott

Re: IB3 series added to web store.

Thanks Scott.. the 15's model out very nicely! I'll be using 2 IB315's in a ~45cu. couch riser to augment the existing IB318's in a few months...

The 30mm xmax is a very welcome change on the smaller drivers!
