| Re: Anyone interested in a 22" IB3? +1. I'm moving to a new house in a month or two and the HT will go in an open loft (the space has at least 10k cubic feet... but probably closer to 15k given the open floor plan). Two 22" IB3 drivers at the front would be perfect. Having the option of adding a couple more if needed at the rear would be even better. Last edited by jagman; 04-28-09 at 01:48 PM.. | ||||

| Re: Anyone interested in a 22" IB3? Hugo could you give me a reason for this opinion? Are the smaller drivers in their IB line able to do this? If so okay but it might be a case of so much extra mass and not being able to be downfired as a result. I just don't know and would like an answer from the company if possible because that's how I would have to mount them. Thanks though for the input. | ||||

| Re: Anyone interested in a 22" IB3? I found this at partsexpress.com Plugging in the specs for the IB3 18" (X-max 30mm and Fs 22.3Hz) nets a 1.6656% sag. Which is an acceptable amount for downfiring a sub. Moving on to the 22" IB3. If the x-max stays at 30mm just like the 12", 15", & 18" and as long as the Fs stays above 14Hz we should be fine for down firing. Hope this helps. | ||||

| Re: Anyone interested in a 22" IB3? They will be able to be down fired. We are tooling up with more machines to be able to take care of some items for the 22" IB and other products in house. We are part way through making to purpose built machines to make cone bodies. Given the tooling feels for a paper cone body for the 22" from our current vendor, it makes sense to spend about the same on machinery, fixtures, and tooling to be able to make our own. While this will make things take a little longer, Im a big fan of doing as much as we can in house... just another tool in the arsenal. Thanks, Scott | ||||

| Re: Anyone interested in a 22" IB3? Sorry Jagman but none of that is available. What's in this thread is the sum total of public knowledge at this point. As far as delivery date, well that is listed as soon. | ||||

| Re: Anyone interested in a 22" IB3? First you have to find the cat. Scott was asked about the 22" on the SSA forum, on May 26 he replied": Still working through the machine and tooling for cone bodies (as we are doing it all in house). And I hate to say that the 22 is not at the top of the list right now, but we have several other big projects for OEM going that are taking front stage right now. 22 and other variants will come when some of these other projects are squared away. It wont disappoint... Thanks, Scott It will be definitely be worth the wait. | ||||

| Re: Anyone interested in a 22" IB3? Thanks for posting that. It seems to me that it could be a very long time instead of soon. I am sure it will be great when it comes out. But I have some " Happy Birthday to Me" money set aside and I have an itch for some more subwoofage and a project that needs to be scratched soon. So I will probably just settle for the 18" lamenting what could have been. | ||||

| Re: Anyone interested in a 22" IB3? Scott... I believe I read earlier (somewhere) that the 22" IB3 driver will use the same motor as the 18" IB3 driver. If so, is it reasonable to think the power handling should be similar? In an IB setup with two drivers downfiring but NOT co-located, how many watts per driver would you consider reasonable? Remember, my preference is to not overdrive the drivers while at the same time avoid the necessity of a hi pass filter. Oh, I just thought of something... does the necessity of a hi pass filter change with a downfiring position vs the normal upright position? Thanks! | ||||
