Anyone seen or heard of these Subwoofers
www.ficaraudio.com

I am thinking about getting one of the Q18's for my home theater. Any idea how it compares to the Soundsplinter rlp15 or TCsounds TC3000?

Re: ficaraudio

I e-mailed the owner of Ficar audio and got a reply 1 day later. Nice dude. He explained a few things about Le and shorting rings that i'll never forget Last I heard he was still trying to get his website complete with T/S parameters

Woah, looks like the T/s are up now.

Looks like the Q 18 wants to see a much larger box than a single Tc-3000 or Rl-p 15. 700 liters tuned to 15hz looks good for the Q 18...I wouldn't bother going sealed with such large box requirements...guess its the high Qts?

you can get close to the same output with the Rl-P 15 in a 400 liter box tuned to 15hz. Of course you have the cone area advantage of the 18" over the 15" Rl-P...But an 18" rl-p is in the works...

Re: ficaraudio

Impressive website and good looking subs.

Good question and about the only thing we can do is compare specs unless someone has experienced both.

You've got my interest now. Anyone know the timeframe on the 18?

Re: ficaraudio

Also, 18" versions of the TC-3000 and TC-2000 are currently in production.

Re: ficaraudio

Scott (he's Mr FiAudio) knows his way around a loudspeaker and has been doing so for quite a while. He was the engineer at RE (Resonant Engineering).

Pricing on these drivers is quite attractive given they include shipping. So the market once again is widening for high performance drivers at reasonable prices..

Re: ficaraudio

Thomas, there is an 18" driver with 27mm excursion, yet no low distortion motor technology nor shorting rings are being used. Would you consider this a problem? I'd feel a bit hesitant myself.
