The Q Series of subwoofers is Fi Audio's sound quality reference line. Featuring a hefty double stack motor structure with a heavily bumped t-yoke, the 27mm of Xmax allows for incredibly detailed, tight, and powerful bass. Dual progressive spiders keep the incredible linear excursion of this sub under control, while the extra heavy lead wire feeds the giant voice coil. IB, Sealed or Ported... obviously within the physical limits of the motor and parts.
This may delay shipment a few days, but you will have a driver to meet your needs.

What will it take to be qualified for a chance to win one of these two drivers?

Qualification period is from December 15, 2007 through March 15, 2008.
Qualifying members must be registered by February 15, 2008 in order to qualify.
A random drawing will be held at the end of March from the qualified entries.
You must start a minimum of 5 new threads during the qualification period.*
You must have a minimum of 75 posts during the qualification period.*
5 of the 75 posts must be in the Fi Audio forum section.
25 of the 75 posts must be posted between February 15, 2008 and March 15, 2008
No post-padding allowed or you will be disqualified without notice!
*Qualifying Forum Categories for Threads and Posts
Tell us the install application for which you will use your Fi Audio Q18 using the Install application for my Q18! thread.
Make sure your equipment is listed in our Home Theater Equipment forum.
Tell us that you are qualified and would like to be entered into the giveaway using the Fi Audio Q18 Giveaway Qualification Thread.
Winners must agree to post a install application project thread here at the Shack in the Fi Audio forum within 180 days of receiving their driver.

Shipping outside of the U.S. or Canada will be the responsibility of the winner.

We can tweak them within the laws of physics and the strength of the motor quite a bit. IB, sealed, ported, Dual 1 or 2, single 2, 4, or 8 Ohm as well.

Change to split coil?

Hmmm... not enough top plate height to really get the same Xmax from it. Need about a 1" TP to do it. Along the same lines as XBL, the coil wind height would greatly be reduced as would moving mass and inductance. But, as I find to a larger detriment in the car audio and higher power home world... a big loss in thermal power handling.
