Center Stage XD Screen Material

I recently contacted Chris at SeymourAV about their XD material, as to whether a viewing distance of 9' would be practical..He was concerned that it might be too close for that material but couldn't really say one way or the other..

Is there anyone on this forum (particularly anyone using a CIH screen) that is viewing from that distance, and if so do you see any holes or texture?

Interesting Prof.! I can't help you directly, but I went to their site and found a graphic that might be of help.

http://www.seymourav.com/screens.asp

According to this the minimum viewing distance of the XD material is 8 feet.

Yeah..thanks Harp I did see that..
It says 8' on the site but Chris is saying that he thinks I'll see the texture at 9'6"!!
I've also found a couple of members on another forum!.One sits at 10' and has no problem and the other sits at 9' and occasionally sees texture!
It's all very confusing..

Yeah, it looks like their advertising department got a bit carried away with that 8' minimum.

One thing I'll say about the situation is that a lot can depend on the specific PJ used (image brightness and resolution) as well as the individual eyeballs involved; some people just see better (or are more sensitive to visual differences) than others.

I think I fall into that latter category..I don't have 20/20 vision, but I'm acutely aware of any variation to the screens surface, such as a tiny flying insect landing on the screen during a movie!
Chris is sending me a sample of the new material to see what it looks like at 9'6" before I commit..
