Is it necessary to sand before final coat of paint?

I painted the first of 2 coats of paint today on my MDF screen, and I was wondering if it is generally necessary to lightly sand before the second/final coat? Is it only necessary if I see a flaw or roller marks? Thanks.

I wouldn't sand anything unless you see a flaw. I've found that it helps to have a light off to the side of the screen shining on it. It helps you see any errors!
