One of the things that most people don't realize is that there is a whole class of audiophiles that spend as much for top end headphone system as some people spend on their home audio system. You can spend $$$ for a top end headphone, backed by a tube headphone amp, and a first class source. Unlike speakers, it's a lot easier to dabble and experiment/upgrade headphone equipment. That's why all the people at head-fi forums have so many and upgrade often. With headphones, as there isn't such thing as a perfectly neutral headphone, you can even have different pairs suited for different music
