| Re: Face-Off - SVS PB10-ISD Takes On A Few Contenders Thanks for the great face-off article. I'm contemplating getting the PB10-NSD for my home theater / listening and family room. Currently, I'm limping by with the subwoofer that came with my HK HTIB, and while that does okay when it's paired with the satellites that came with it in a smaller space, my room is 4200 cubic feet or so, so I was very pleased to read that you had been working in a 6200 cubic foot space and didn't seem to run into any problems. I have my other oddball reasons for liking the SVS: it's made here in the states (I'm from the Detroit area, so, even though SVS is in Ohio, it's good to see midwestern gear competing very successfully in a global marketplace). Anyhow, I do have a couple of questions, in particular about that lump of muddiness you talked about. I'm presuming that a) it was the result of your room since no one else talked about it, and b) My Pioneer Elite's MCACC and EQ features ought to be able to tame any unruly curves. Granted, I'm a rookie at that kind of stuff, and am probably demonstrating my ignorance all over the place, but thanks, again, for the great article. | ||||

| Re: Face-Off - SVS PB10-ISD takes on a few contenders And let's not forget - the SVS is made in Ohio. Mostly of components they manufacture themselves. Okay, the BASH amplifier is imported from Canada. My point is (and I recognize that I sound extremely chauvinistic, but I'm from the rust belt, and any time I get a chance, I'm gonna support my part of the world) that here's a product that's designed and built here, and is competitive both in terms of price and quality. | ||||

| Re: Face-Off - SVS PB10-ISD takes on a few contenders Very nice review Wayne. We're would you classify a room measuring 20Lx16Wx8H, medium or large? Incidentally, it has a 6'W opening to an entrance hall. I guess what I'm getting at, would the SVS PB 12-NSD suffice or could I even get away with the PB 10NSB? Rick | ||||

| Re: Face-Off - SVS PB10-ISD Takes On A Few Contenders Either one should do nicely in a room that size, but you might want to check with SVS's customer service dept. I hear they're really helpful. ![]() Regards, Wayne | ||||

| Re: Face-Off - SVS PB10-ISD Takes On A Few Contenders Actually I have contacted Steve at SVS and his suggestion was at the very least a PB-12 Plus would be best suited for my room size. I was just wishfully thinking that I could get away with a less expensive option and be satisfied but the more I research the subject of subwoofers the more I'm inclined to simply wait a bit longer and purchase the PB-12 Plus so as not to regret buying a sub too small for my enjoyment. | ||||

| Re: Face-Off - SVS PB10-ISD Takes On A Few Contenders Thanks to Wayne for this review! I am starting to put together a 2.1 music only (100% music) system and have been reading reviews and listening to everything I can. I haven't been happy with the bass I've been hearing; however professional reviews of the same sub will talk as if it is an excellent sub for music. Wayne's is the first review I've read which addresses the detail shortcoming of modern subwoofers. The ones I've listened to just can't compete with my big old acoustic suspension speakers for detail and Wayne addressed this in his review which will no doubt save me tremendous time and perhaps, several misguided upgrades as I try to get a good bass sound. My thanks to Wayne for this review and to this forum for providing a venue for it!![]() ![]() | ||||
