| | Nokia 8800 Aston Martin Limited Edition This is one of those devices we dream of flipping out of our pocket and saying into it: "Miss Moneypenny" This is the Aston Martin Limited Edition Nokia 8800 cell phone, the only mobile communications device for the well heeled secret service agent. Inside the stainless steel slide case etched with the exclusive Aston Martin logo is the Nokia 8800. The phone is tri-band so it can operate through either 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS networks and its EDGE compatible. It has a 208x208 pixel 262,144 color LCD. It's unclear exactly what mega pixel the camera is, one source says it's a one mega pixel but the traditional 8800 is only a half mega pixel which is plenty for taking snapshots of top secret documents. The graphics get a boost from Nokia's 3D image engine. It supports instant messaging and email from SMTP, POP3 and IMAP4 protocols. Bluetooth wireless compatibility will prevent your Aston Martin branded phone from getting lonely. Browsing is supported with an integrated XHTML browser that connects over TCP/IP. Key Features Durable stainless steel covers Fine-pitched screen protected by scratch-resistant glass window Integrated SVGA camera Active TFT display with 262,144 colors ( 208 x 208 pixels ) 3D image engine for enhanced graphics Video recording and streaming Digital music player Device-to-device synchronization
The phone supports playback of MP3 and AAC so you can load up its 64MB of internal NAND flash memory. It also includes a special ringtone that sounds like an Aston Martin Vantage V8 engine revving up. There are also screen saver and wallpaper selections added from Aston Martin. The remarkable battery life of the 8800 is rated for up to 3 hours of talk time with up to 8 days of standby time. At a cost of only $1,640/1,353 this phone can be yours. But hurry, this limited run only has 250 units worldwide. Verdict: Technically this phone rates as a case of style over substance but the substance is pretty good. Nokia's 8800 is a ****** fine phone. But the style here is out of the stratosphere. Does it warrant the price? No. But we'd understand if you of means and just couldn't help yourself, just make sure you also have the requisite car that goes with the phone. Link to Article | |||
