| | Sennheiser Does Bluetooth; BW900 Bluetooth headsets are fast becoming a must have peripheral for you cell phone. A good headset will elevate the cell phone from very poor wearable computing device to a somewhat acceptable one with minimal obtrusion. They're far cry from the old days when we used to duct tape a cheap set of walkie talkies to our heads. It was a great way to communicate until we realized the mic button was taped "on" full time so we couldn't hear each other. Then there was the problem with that duct tape glue painfully pulling out hair. What you dont remember that? Forget it.[/size] Finally Sennheiser gets in on the Bluetooth headset craze. The BW900 is the luxury headphone company's first entry into this market that's getting more crowded by the week. Sennheiser's name is synonymous with high quality headphones sold at an affordable price. We'll soon see if they can bring the same high end ethics to a cell phone headset. Normally one doesn't look for "high end" sound from something like a Bluetooth headset. When it comes to cell phone headsets you're luck if you don't sound like you're talking from under a manhole cover. The BW900 is a lightweight headset at only 10 grams. It employs Sennheiser's Adaptive Intelligence technology for automatic volume adjustments and microphone sensitivity. The technology will apparently reduce ambient noise when you're speaking. This class "A" Bluetooth device has a range of 100 meters. Most of the high profile competitors in the Bluetooth headphone game are using Class B Bluetooth which only has a range of 10 meters. The only problem with the Class A specification is at present there are no other Bluetooth devices that can communicate with the BW900 at that spec. The BW900 can wirelessly connect to up to eight other devices. Try that with any ordinary headset. Link to Article | |||
