| LimeWire Strikes Back Against RIAA What’s interesting about this case is that Lime Wire has filed a counter suit against the RIAA. LimeWire says the record industry’s strong arm lawsuit against them is an antitrust violation, the RIAA wants to simply destroy any avenue of distributing music they do not control. In the countersuit LimeWire points out the RIAA is sapping new innovative business models that content owners do not control. The best interests of consumers aren’t served by this kind of stifling of free enterprise. Does a peer to peer service stand a chance against the RIAA? Probably not in my humble opinion, but bravo for biting back. Link to Article | ||||

| Re: LimeWire Strikes Back Against RIAA Anti trust? Ouch! I’m surprised no one thought of that before. According to Wayde’s link, Limewire also accuses the RIAA of “forc[ing] [us] to do business with them on exclusive and/or other anticompetitive terms,” and of a “modern conspiracy to destroy all innovation that content owners cannot control and that disrupts their historical business models.” Ouch again! Limewire is demanding a trial by jury. Ouch! I’m betting that all the ill will the RIAA generated by sueing 12-year-old kids is going to come back and bite them in the butt. Regards, Wayne | ||||
