Microsoft has continued to make hay while the sun shines before the PS3 arrives by buying Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios. Lionhead has been responsible for groundbreaking titles like Black&White and Fable, and Molyneux himself is widely considered one of the most respected - and visionary - games producers in the world. So it's easy to see why Microsoft felt they wanted to bring his studio into the Microsoft fold alongside the likes of Bungie and Rare. But what's in it for Lionhead?
Money, of course. And presumably lots of it. Or as Molyneux puts it: "This acquisition gives Lionhead the stability and opportunity to focus on creating world-class next-generation titles". Let's hope this new 'stability' really does allow Molyneux to deliver another slew of classic titles.
