| Recently I ran across a Reuters article about Sony’s plan to dampen the expense associated with bringing Blu-ray production up-to-speed, with profitable lines like flat-screen TVs and Vaio computers. Toward the end of the article however the author indicates that Stan Glasgow (the same Glasgow quoted in a previous post) “believes the battle over formats could be resolved within 12 to 24 months -- with Blu-ray the eventual winner -- but he did not rule out the possibility of creating a player that combined both technologies.” If true, that’s quite a departure from the no compromise stance previously held by Sony spokesmen. I have to say my first inclination is that the quote new window attributed to Glasgow may have been taken out of context. But then again I’m not sure how “wouldn’t rule out creating a player combining both technologies” can be taken any other way than how it reads. Link To Original Article | |||

| Re: A Sony branded Blu-ray/HD-DVD player? I don't think the possibility of a combined player would be coming from Sony. I did see a rumor of a combined player, but I think it was from LG. | |||
