I'm on the fence about the 4k TVs. While the amount of detail is gorgeous, to me it really doesn't look true to life! I mean, would you actually see that much detail if you were viewing that same scene in person? Now, the OLED looks a lot better to me. Deep colors and better blacks. Really don't like to curved screen of the Samsung I was looking!.

I guess time will tell .....
One has to wonder about the practicality of curved screens... they're a bit of a mystery to me as well.

Interesting take on what your eyes have seen in 4K images. The examples you've seen in stores, don't forget, are running on torch modes where brightness and contrast are abnormally bold. That might contribute to a somewhat unnatural image.

According to some Samsung training literature, the curved screen was designed to mimic the curvature of your eye's retina. Samsung said this was to reduce some eye/brain fatigue! But. like pointed out elsewhere, you would need to view the screen from a centered position.

While working at a local BM store, I was able to view the Samsung, Panasonic and LG 4k TVs. As with all the other TVs in the store they all where running in torch mode and they only source materiel for the 4k was from the manufacture .... so of course they will look the best they can be. Interesting note was that all of the 4ks were eye level while seated.

Thanks for the great information!

<<Rest assured, the 2.0 specification doesnít require new HDMI cables; existing runs of cables will work. Also, the technology is backwards compatible>>
