Unhappy Need Help with an Onkyo 805

I have a Yamaha C950 SACD / DVD player and an Onkyo 805. I have it connected via HDM! 1.3 from the DVD player to the Onkyo but the Onkyo will not recognize the SACD signal from the Yamaha. Has anyone had this problem or a simular problem? I have tried mutiple SACD's and none of them are recognized by the Onkyo, however DVD Audio CD's are recognized.

Thanks for any help!!
Matt

Re: Need Help with an Onkyo 805

From p. 8 of the Yamaha manual: SACD audio signals are not output from the digital out jacks.
From p. 29 of the manual: Super Audio CD signals cannot be output using HDMI.

SACD tutorial

Wayne

Re: Need Help with an Onkyo 805

sorry but you have to hook up each channel to a bypass input so your mains, center and surrounds all require an RCA connection then you need to configure the player for optimal playback.

Re: Need Help with an Onkyo 805

In lower right hand rear of unit you will find the bypass inputs between the DVD analog jacks and the pre-out outputs, you can go 2 channel, 3, 5, and even 7 total if you wish plus a sub jack so hopefully you have cables around or can get some cheap and you will be in business! Agin you need to set up player for speaker size and all the normal settings for delay and such just like your reciever, hope this helps!

Re: Need Help with an Onkyo 805

THANKS!! I was reading the manual but did not even see that in there. I need glasses. Guess I will have to go with the old school RCA's. This forum is by far the most helpful on the web!!! I can not thank you guys enough.

Sweet it all worked out! When you have time I would be curious to hear your impressions of SACD..I have been playing SACD for years but always interested in a new user's "take" on the medium. cheers
