Hooked up my new amp today.....

I got my Emotiva LPA-1 yesterday and got it hooked up today. Didn't get to listen too much because as soon as I hooked up the last wire got a call and had to head back to the hospital. Initial impression, wow. Made my Polk LSI15 speakers come to life.
Tomorrow I'll try to play demo discs and some music dvds and see how it sounds.
So far I like it.

Re: Hooked up my new amp today.....

I'm still having to spend a lot of time at the hospital, Mom had a stroke after the bypass surgery, but I did listen some this afternoon before heading back. I am very happy with the amp. Sound is much cleaner, highs are crisp and of course the VOLUME is great.I played a demo disc I have that has some of the THX openers, I don't know which movie it's from but the one where the guy hooks up the cow sound box to the THX sign. That thing is so cool. To hear the different keys the Moos are in and the surround effect. The THX storm intro to hear the same different notes/keys as the meteors cross the sound field. I am definitely hearing things that I didn't hear with just the HK AVR435. I realize that most of the sound processing is done in the HK but I didn't notice these things as much before I got the amp. I also watched part of Cars on a Sd dvd and it was cool too. I haven't had time to watch a HD dvd yet or really listen to much music but I know I'm going to be pleased.
I am glad I didn't listen to the nay sayers that spoke poorly of Emotiva and buy a big name used amp instead of trying Emotiva. Of course I may have been just as happy with something else but with a warranty and 30 money back guarantee how could I go wrong?

Sorry to hear about your Mom's complications Steve.

Hope to hear more thoughts on the amp as time permits.

I have the same speakers and with room treatment and a good amp, they are a very nice sounding speaker. The soundstage on my setup is just unbelievable.

Best wishes for your mom's speedy recovery.

Re: Hooked up my new amp today.....

Thanks everyone. Mom seems to be doing better. She regained use of her right arm and leg but can't control the right hand very well. Her speech is getting better but still hard to communicate.
I am very happy with the amp. I don't know the correct terminology but does WOW work? I've said most of it before. The sound is so clean and sharp. Good highs but not too bright. I can hear the zing in the cymbals that I like to hear. Based on my limited experience I have no difficulty recommending this company.
