bits and pieces

I just realised I have a thread showing the very slow progress of my home theatre/studio but not listed any of my gear.

It is very meagre, especially compared to the systems listed here and on other forums.

Sources:

Dedicated HTPC, running geexbox. I will upgrade this later but for now it does all I need it to.

LG dvd player, It so far has taken quite a punishing getting used at least 5-6 hours a day for the last year.

pioneer dv355, currently retired awaiting a new/repaired laser. It is a shame it died because I really like the quality of the DACs in it.

my pc using SBlive SC.

PJ: - old sharp thing, its about as big as an oven (and gets as hot as one)

sound control:

Sansui e.q, whole octave 10 band.

Pioneer Rg9 brings crappy compressed engineering back to some sort of life.

DIY 3 way active x-over, LR 24dB/oct set to 80Hz, 310 and 3500Hz. just a prototype at the moment until I get the speakers and room treatment setup properly.

Amps:

DIY 20Watt/channel gainclone, easily pushes my 4ways to a decent level at the listening position.

DIY 100watt/channel P3A, mostly completed but still on the bench (no time at the moment)

Kustom P.A amp ?watts, only good for subs as there is too much noise above 1Khz

Speakers:

DIY 4ways, horrible in the midrange but great extension below 80Hz and pretty clear highs. (soon to be replaced with bi-amped mids, subs and tweeters)

DIY mids, still in the garage but are taking shape, duel 6.5" midrange drivers. Will post a worklog when I have the time and a finished product.

Senheiser RS 120 headphones, very good although not the best I have heard.

Still to be started:

Subs, undecided about size or style
tweeter cabs, pretty basic whatever suits when the rest is done.
room treatment, will depend on speakers.
3x 50W/ch. amps (main mids, surrounds, rears)
new projector (when time, money, WAF are in alignment for the great conjucture)

So there it is, very meagre although those that have had the opportunity to either listen or watch a movie in it will atest to it being slightly better than most theatres, the SQ in most peoples opinion makes up for the lack of surround channels.
