Klipsch & Onkyo

Hello, I have a couple of questions if someone can help me with or give me some advice,
Right now i have a 5.2 setup and using the onkyo tx-nr901 it's an older receiver but still good, and I was wondering about up grading with something new because that receiver doesn't have the HDMI hook ups so I'm using optical from my cable and bluray player so I was wondering if that would make a noticeable sound difference from optical to hdmi because I know when I added my second sub that made a whole lot more difference then what I thought it would. Iwould like to stay with onkyo but I'm hearing from alot of people that some receivers have problems with the hdmi hook ups.
Also I wanted to ask, is it better to go multi channel or stay with optical ? This is what I have now and im in a apartment.

Klipsch R -24f mains
Klipsch R -25c center
Klipsch R -15m surround
Klipsch R -10s duel subs

Re: Klipsch & Onkyo

There is a difference, HDMI alows for uncompressed audio and full 7.1 plus Atmos or DTSX. With your system I'm sure you would hear it.

Home theater:
Onkyo 805, Yamaha YDP2006EQ, Samson Servo 600 amp
3 EV Sentry 500 monitors across the front, 4 Mission 762i's Surrounds, SVS PB13U sub, Panasonic BDT220, Harmony 1100, Nintendo WiiU
Panasonic PT-AE8000 on a 120" 2,35:1 fixed screen

Living room system:
Sherwood/Newcastle R972, Mission 765's, SVS SBS02's, A/D/S MS3u sub, Yamaha YDG2030EQ
Yamaha KX-393 Tape deck, CDC 805 CD changer, Panasonic BD60, Sony turntable PS-T20
Panasonic TC-P50ST60, HD-PVR & WDTV Live, Harmony 900

Thanks, i was looking at the onkyo tx-nr555, it's a 7.2 receiver with 980W, surround modes =DTSX, Atmos, Dolby true HD,dolby digital plus.... definitely alot cheaper than what I paid for the nr901, but the nr555 seems like it has more stuff that I can use or that will help out my system....

Re: Klipsch & Onkyo

For your speakers the NR555 would be just fine.
