I just received an onkyo 807 refurb. This is my seventh home theatre receiver so I am comfortable with setup ect. The hdmi switching is driving my wife,(why did we need a different one anyway) myself crazy. Picture will go blank sound cutout won't turn on,Are these known problems? I have not done firmware update,Has anyone had these issues and resolved them with updates? I can send back but they will only swap for another 807.Did I make a mistake? Thanks in advance for all replies Tom in wi
I'm not sure about the switching with Onkyo, it may be something to call Tec support about. I know with my Denon there is a bit of a delay (1-2 seconds) when switching sources.
Switching HDMI sources can cause a delay and in some cases, handshaking issues. But every one I have seen reported has been resolved by a setting (like which resolutions to up-rez, down-rez, or pass through) or a firmware update.
Thank you for the responses, other issues have occured with 807. I have sent the unit back and await replacement however I decided to go new with a pioneer vsx-1120 which should arrive today, Just a suggestion to anyone upgrading, keep your old avr just in case something like this happens. I NEED MY SURROUND SOUND.
