Equipment List

Our Equipment List
“A nice mid-fi system,” according to an audiophile acquaintance.

Audio Components
- Yamaha RX-V1 home theater receiver (review).
- Nakamichi MB-3s 7-disc CD changer.
- Carvin DCM1540L amplifier for subwoofers. (750 watts per channel, only 10” deep, a mere 14 pounds – what’s not to love? )

Audio Signal Processing
- Yamaha YDP2006 digital parametric equalizer (three total, one each for L/R mains, center channel, and subwoofers).

Other/Miscellaneous
- Adcom ACE-515 line conditioner/power director (two ea.).
- AudioControl R-130 real time analyzer (gives visual frequency response display of all audio program material).

- Yamaha DT-2 audio timer (provides a digital clock display and looks like another system component).
- Radio Shack 15-2164 omnidirectional FM antenna.
- Radio Shack VU-160XR TV antenna.
- Archer (Radio Shack) FM amplifier (to boost radio signals from FM antenna).
- Xantech IR remote repeater.

Speakers
- LRS Electronics Human 61 (custom-made speakers).
- Realistic Minimus 7W (for front DSP effects - don't laugh, I needed something small and they were free!).
- Shiva 12" DIY passive subwoofers (build thread: Built-in subwoofer project).

Electrical
- Two dedicated 15A circuits, installed by myself (one for amplifiers, one for source components).

Retired Components (taking up too much closet space!)
- Technics SL-3200 turntable with Shure V15 Type V-MR cartridge.
- Pioneer CT-S709 3-head cassette deck.
- Pioneer PDR-509 CD recorder.

Cabling/Interconnects
- Custom DIY video cable between equipment rack and TV, featuring commercial-grade Covid 3800 five-primary cable stock with Neutrik NYS373 RCA and S-video connectors.
- Custom DIY component video cables, featuring Canare LV-61S cable stock and Neutrik NYS373 RCA plugs.
- Custom DIY audio cabling, featuring two Mogami W2932 8-channel multicore cables with Switchcraft 3502 and Dayton Super RCA plugs.
- Additional DIY interconnects made from Mogami W2549, W2791, and Canare L-4E5C cable stock, using Neutrik NYS373 and Dayton Super RCAs, and Switchcraft A3M and A3F XLR connectors.
- A few vintage Radio Shack Gold Series audio cables are used.
