| Mitsubishi vs-50805 issue I have a Mits (built in 2000) model:vs-50805 series:HD1080 that is exhibiting the following issue. After pressing the power button, the timer LED will light for about 3 seconds, the screen will show all green and then the set will power down. I have been reading about other Mits sets that have similar problems ... check the caps on the DM board. The 50805 does not have this separate metal box (on the left). First questions - Does my set have a DM board? Where is it located? How many caps am I looking for? Is this a known issue with this model? While looking for coolent leaks, I noticed this transistor sparking(see picture). Upper right corner is showing arcs. Second questions: How do I remove this board? Is this a sign of other failures? Anything else I should know about the TV? Thanks Last edited by kserdar; 04-16-08 at 02:31 PM. | |||

| Re: Mitsubishi vs-50805 issue There is no DM in this set. It is pre-digital. There should be no arcing. This needs to be dealt with before you damage something else. | Re: Mitsubishi vs-50805 issue I agree about the arcing. So - I wil ask again... How do I remove the board? It appears to have "glue" locking the parts together. I have the skills to repair the board. I just don't want to break anything removing the board. | |||

| Re: Mitsubishi vs-50805 issue There is glue holding the connector to the base of the CRT. There is also a screw locking the bracket. Lossen the screw, slice the glue with a knife and it unplugs. Be VERY careful working with a CRT. There may be a charge on the tube or the components on the board and you can break the pins or the CRT. | Re: Mitsubishi vs-50805 issue After removing the board set your DMM to diode check and check the transistor for shorts. I believe the transistor you're pointing to is the color signal amp for that tube. Also check those green (wire wound I believe) resistors on the board. The glue is put there so that the board doesn't disconnect or loosen from the tube during shipping. | |||
