Jvc Av-65wp74

I just had two STK's in my JVC model AV-65WP74 replaced. This corrected the convergence problem (3D images) but after the repair man left I noticed a thin horizontal line almost in the shape of a smile going across the middle of the screen. It seems to be made up of three colors and is most visible when the T.V is displaying a white background. Like on a persons face I can see a thin line of three colors. I can't really see it on black/grey backgrounds. All the lines seem to be lined up on the convergence grid. Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem?

Can you post an image? Not sure what this might be.

Here's the STK chips I had the repairman replace the faulty ones with: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...STRK:MERFB:IID
Hopefully they weren't some cheap copies which might be causing this problem. Here's two pics. You can see the small rainbow like lines if you look closely.

Also the lines are really three small curved lines. One red, one green, and one blue. Almost looks like the lenses aren't projecting off the mirror in the back right? This thread kinda states the problem I'm seeing with the lines: http://www.fixya.com/support/t186581-three_curved_lines

Yes, they probably are cheap copies.

How long was the set operating with a convergence problem? You may have slightly burned the tubes. Could also be some slight linearity problem in the convergence that can be adjusted out. It would take examination of full field red, green, blue test patterns and a convergence grid to determine.

It ran with the convergence problem for about a month. Could that have caused this? It looks like a rainbow curve right in the center of the screen.

You may have burned the CRTs. Like I said, you need the test patterns that I described to test further. Get a test disc like AVIA or DVE.
