Need some adviced, I been out of tv for almost 6 months now, started since i have a bending picture on my mit WS65809, purchased tv on dec of 2001 for 3,350 with the insurance. First Tech central tv came out and he couln't fixed problem and made it worst, now don't have any power on tv. 2nd tech came out two month later and said order wrong part # (power board) and he tooked chassis and remote. Called central tv two weeks later said need approval from warrantech to order part. Until now tv is still not being service with no phone call. Tv is on a extended warranty and I been waiting for it to get fixed. Thinking about going to attorney for some legal adviced, don't know anything about attorney and don't really wan't to.Pleased give me some advice what to do get my tv back. Call the servicer and ask the current status of the repair. If they have not proceded as they should call warrantech and demand a new servicer, a new set, or some resolution.

I was told I have to pay for the servicer. They said they could not do anything untill they get an estimate from the servicer.

Pay for what? Is the repair covered under warranty or not? Is there some deductable? I was not aware that warrantech had anything like that. Who is "they?"

Re: Need advice Mit ws65809 warrantech

Where did you purchase the extended warranty? I purchased one at Ultimate Electronics/SoundTrack, and had some trouble with getting Warrentech to be approved, or for them to approve the tech to come out. I called Ultimate and told them that "I can no longer understand why we can't get this fixed", and it was all set up in a matter of days. I can give you more info and a "direct number" for a guy that took care of my problems at Ultimate.

How did you get the contract with Warrentech?

Re: Need advice Mit ws65809 warrantech

I bought my tv to soundtrack. been calling servicer, warrantech and soundtrack to take care of the problem. I requested a new servicer becaused I been having so much problem with central tv and it got to a point where I don't even wan't to deal with them. Warrantech told me that I have to pay, I believed a fee since bomebody is already working on it. I believed they were saying now that the part is in back order so I still have to wait more weeks and it take month just to get a schedule date for a tech to come out. Soundtrack is no help at all about the situation. Will call tommorow and see what happen.I just want my tv back. I just think that 6 month is way too long not to have the tv back. Thanks for all reply.

What part do they have on order?

Re: Need advice Mit ws65809 warrantech

Hi Mike,

I had a simpler problem, and I was fortunate in that I was not without a TV. I just had some convergence issues. So I went round-and-round with Ultimate and Warrentech. I believe this was partly due to the fact that I bought the TV and the warranty a few days apart. I generally never buy extended warranties, but I was a bit nervous about the DLP technology, so I sprung for it within the given time limit. Anyway, Warrentech had a problem getting me authorized to do any service through Central TV. Sounds somewhat like the same story you're telling here.

Here's what I did -- start calling Ultimate every day. Call early in the morning to avoid hold times. I talked with Misha a lot, and it was Lyman (sp?) who ultimately fixed me up. They ended up going around Warrentech and, as I understood it, Ultimate paid the bill to Central TV. I left a message for Lyman one day that said something like "I cannot understand what is going on over there. If you are not the right guy to take care of this for me, then let me know who is, so that I can get this thing fixed." The next day I had a call from Misha in the morning, and in the next week or so I was fixed. This was after going back and forth between Warrentech and Ultimate for MONTHS! I know how you feel, and my TV was 99.9% working.

PM me if you want Lyman's direct number. IIRC, the 1st line phone support there will connect you with him if you ask, and he'll probably tell you his number if you ask him. But he's the guy that can get more stuff done for you than the others. Start getting a little agitated. I wasn't ever rude or over-the-top-mad, but I started getting a little more stern, and I started getting results. A friend at work had a similar situation and Lyman took care of him, too. I don't know if that's their standard operating procedure -- to stall on warranties and such -- or if it's Warrentech's fault, or what. I do know that it's a pain to get stuff fixed through them until you push a little harder.

I also "heard" that if you write the CEO or president a letter (snail mail) that discusses your problems with the extended warranty program, that they'll send you a $50 or $100 gift card. Maybe I'll write that up this weekend.

Anyway, good luck with getting your TV fixed.
