Mitsubishi 55905 Convergence

I have a Mitsubishi 55905 TV that is about 5 years old now and about four months ago the yellow and red convergence has really shifted and I cannot fix it through the TV menu. I had a TV tech come out to take a look at it which was $100.00 right off the bat and he said that he had to order a part for it. Three months later after numerous phone calls he tells me they no longer make the part and he would have to change the whole chassis which would cost me $800. I would purchase a new HD TV for $400 more before doing that! I read other posts on here where at maximum a convergence fix should cost around 400 dollars. Anyone in the Orlando area that would recommend a good repair shop with technicians that return phone calls?

It is unlikely that the part is unavailable. He probably tried to order the whole board, where repairing it would be the typical procedure. It is possible to need a board if you had a coolant leak, but most can be repaired. You should get a detailed estimate from the servicer who provided the estimate, including what part he is having trouble getting and how he diagnosed the problem. Go to the Mitsubishi site and find the local ASCs in your area and start with them when looking for a good servicer. Read the sticky threads in this forum for some god info.
