| Mitsubishi WS-55807 Unit will not power on at all. Took the back off to see if I could see anything odd but nothing really. Anytime I plug it in I hear a click from inside but nothing happens. I was reading some of the other threads to hold the device and menu buttons at the same time, only problem is that I don't have a device button. Was wondering if you had any ideas of how to eliminate some things to get down to the problem. Thanks | |||

| Re: Mitsubishi WS-55807 Use the Input button. Hold them down together for 5+ sec and report the two digit flashing code from the LED. "It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it." -Joseph Joubert Raise the bar. | |||

| Re: Mitsubishi WS-55807 Power supply is possibsy down and you should find a good local technician to troubleshoot and repair the problem. "It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it." -Joseph Joubert Raise the bar. | |||

| Re: Mitsubishi WS-55807 Yes, you repair the power supply rather than replacing the whole board. If you have a power supply problem it might be just a problem with that circuit or it could be caused by something else. Proper troubleshooting would determine the defective parts and replace them. Just changing the power board might result in a new board being damaged if something else caused it. You might also spend $400 in parts instead of a small fraction of that. These boards are component level repairable. "It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it." -Joseph Joubert Raise the bar. | |||

| Re: Mitsubishi WS-55807 That's a V17 chassis, probably convergence IC failure which will short out critical parts of power supply. Usually the conv chips + a couple 3 watt resistors + a micro fuse or two fixes 'em. Definite pain to do if you are not somewhat experienced, but a lot cheaper than replacing whole circuit boards. You can also sent the boards to someone like PTS for rebuilding and save a few bucks. Lots of other possibilities but the convergence IC failure is really common on those projo TV's. Ron | |||

| Re: Mitsubishi WS-55807 I have never seen a convergence failure in one of these cause the power supply to go down, beyond taking out the pico fuses on the +/- supply lines to the convergence circuit. The main power supply is likely not running or the standby supply is down if there is no response. More common on this set would be a coolant leak or bad caps on the low voltage regulators, or a main PS regulator that is shorted. If the latter, there is usually something more severe shorted or the set took damage from an external cause such as lightning or a power surge. Time for some skilled troubleshooting or at least some careful and complete observation.
