WD62725 Blue box in center of screen

I have a blue box that covers the center of the screen and the pic is visible on either outside edge. Any Idea I thought maybe the light engine but the menu appears fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Closed Caption Text mode maybe?

Re: WD62725 Blue box in center of screen

Thanks for the reply. It was very strange but must have been something with the remote as I tried changing channels no response from the set. as soon as I removed the batteries from the remote the box went away, reinstalled the batteries the box came back. programmed a universal and everything is fine so It looks like I will need to order a new remote.
Thanks as always for your input.

Look for a button stuck down on the remote. Those flexible buttons sometimes get stuck under the plastic frame around them.

You could also try resetting the remote. There is a code to do so but I do not recall it, so refer to your manual.

The box sounds like a text box, which we see all the time on other brands. I have not run into it on a Mits, but it probably has the same CC text modes that others have. Just set the CC to 1 or text to OFF.

Re: WD62725 Blue box in center of screen

Thanks, took the screws out of the remote didnt notice anything stuck, but must have been because when I reassembled the remote the problem was solved and its functioning correctly now and the box is gone.
Thanks. This is a top notch forum which has helped me repair countless mitsubishis.

Yes I have been a tech since 1972 , The first generation mitsubishi DLPs have been a learning experience for me as I have rebuilt about 30 of the Chassis's (cap Problems)
I consider it a ongoing learning experience.
Thanks

You aren't still rebuilding them are you? Now that Mitsubishi has been replacing between 100 and 200 caps and has their production line for rebuilds working efficiently and reliablly, how can you justify it?

Re: WD62725 Blue box in center of screen

I get alot of sets that are out of warranty as well as having been previously worked on without much success so I buy them do the rebuilds and resell with a warranty. I replace all radial and Surface mounts throughout the entire chassis.

Wow, that has to be several hundred caps. How long does it take you?

Re: WD62725 Blue box in center of screen

Yes its an enormous amount of capacitors it usually takes me about two days to do the repair, But most of the sets I get for around 75.00 to 100 and I sell them for between 800 and 850. At first I used to ESR each cap but then I quickly realized it was just easier to replace them all. A few sets have been beyond repair due to the previous attempts of people trying to do the repairs but those sets I dissasemble for the light engines and ballast, aand etc. I am retired so its a source of extra income, and I still enjoy working on electronics.

Re: WD62725 Blue box in center of screen

That is a lot of tedious work. We have found that it is more cost effective to let Mitsubishi rebuild them. They have also covered most of the repairs under warranty, though they are beginning to reject some of those requests.

Re: WD62725 Blue box in center of screen

Yes Mitsubishi had turned down these models as most had been previously worked on so they were putting them on craigslist as free so I would offer them cash and take them off there hands and just rebuild them as I have lots of spare time, some of the sets depending on what was wrong I have installed rebuilt PWBs so they could save their sets. I too recommend that they contact mitsubishi, but I let them know if they have been worked on by anyone other than an authorized mitsubishi repair center they may be out of luck. I just cant see those sets going to a landfill, as Mitsubishi has always been one of my favorite manufacturers.
