Very dim is a pretty vague description. Have you cleaned the optics? Why did you use a philips lamp and not the original Osram? Is color normal? Is there clipping or crushing of whites or blacks? Is gray scale tracking normal?

Looking for me, just google my username. I have used the same one for most sites for many years.

color is normal just very dull and not bright as it should be.my whites look very dingy tho almost like if it was grey or yellow at times.i messed with all the settings and nothing changed. i cleaned everything.went with the philips lamp because from reading on the internet everyone made it seem as it was the better choice.

What does "cleaned everything" mean? Did you take the light engine apart? There are at least a dozen optical elements in any LCD unit inside the light engine and as they get dirty or cloudy, the symptoms you describe can occur. You could also have a defect somewhere.
