| DVD:Perfect Stranger Beautiful people doing bad things.
The worst, however, was the story. Actually, it seemed like the movie was one big long Sony commercial, with Reebok, Heinekin, Victoria's secret, thrown in. I guess I can forgive them for some of it, because they're an ad agency (in the movie), but product placement was overboard in this.
It's a story about a scumbag reporter who will lie, cheat, steal to get a story, destroying lives- all while writing under a pseudonym. She demands to out a closet homosexual, while comparing it to lack of exposure to military funerals (Hollywood writers are trying too hard to play 'current events')
We find that she has secrets of her own that make her investigations suspect.
It was kind of a who-dunnit- but it turns out the story was so bland that three different endings were filmed with different bad guys.
Which means, you don't need to pay close attention to guess- everyone is implicated, it is pot-luck (test audience, I'm sure) who it ends up being.
I didn't like it. My comment was something like "this is why I don't live in a big city", because the characters were loathsome.
It was really disappointing, because I (initially) thought it would be better than Mr. Brooks, which I rented the same day- and which turned out to be great.
2.5/5 (means, I don't want to watch it again) |
