Monitor Calibration tool

I just purchased an X-Rite Eye-one display LT and I'm quite happy with it. I read a recomendation for it in a digital photography mag saying for a little bit more money it has a few more features, well worth it. The software that comes with the Eye-one was very well done. My only complaint is that there isn't anywhere that tells you how exactly to install the software, just do it. Anyone who purchases one will see what I mean. That's my only beef with it. I was more surprised at how close my "by eye" adjustments of the monitor was to the final results. I had been using grey scale ramps and a few favorite photos to tweak my monitor and video card gamma. It does help to have a decent flat screen. I'm using a SOYO TOPAZ S 24" 1920x1200 display and an Nvidia GForce Ti 4200 with the latest Windows XP drivers. The SOYO was $300.00 At Office Max and I'm very surprised at how well it did for the money.
Note this is only a monitor calibration tool, no printers or scanners.

Oh well that's all

Re: Monitor Calibration tool

Thanks, John. Sounds cool. A bit pricey if I'm looking at the right thing but for anyone serious about computer visuals, it's a business expense worth spending.

That's how I do things and am comfortable with the printout each time.

Re: Monitor Calibration tool

I'm not in that league .. (yet)

The X-rite was less than $150.00 delivered. I'm thinking about maybe popping for the printer cal kits upgrade. I need to install some recessed lighting and rear speakers in my Tv room first. Then I need to think about a bathroom upgrade. Soooooooo the upgrade is a bit down on the list but still tempting.
