| Re: Tell us what you're shooting with. I have an Olympus C-2040 Zoom. It's getting kinda old now. It's just 2.1 MP. I like it ok, but not very high resolution. Would love to get a digital SLR to play with. I wish I still had my Nikon F2! That was a sweet camera. I had three Nikkor lenses with it, and a Honeywell strobe unit. I could kick myself for selling it............ Use to love doing darkroom work too. It was a lot more fun than messing with Photoshop. I miss the smell of the chemicals........... ![]() | |||

| Re: Tell us what you're shooting with. I have a Sony DSC P-5, 3.2mp digital camera that I keep in my Van for the "just in case" pictures. I have a Kodak P880, 8mp SLR at home that I use for more serious picture taking. The one thing I hate about it is the built in flash is lousy to say the least. Now I just need to find time to get out in this fantastic fall weather and get some nice pictures of the leaves changing colors. Home theater: Onkyo TXSR805 receiver, Samson Servo 4120 bridged @240wattsX2, 2-Mission 765 Mains, 4-762i's Rears, SVS PB13 Ultra, AR center PSC25, 2 Audio control C131 EQ's, Toshiba HD AX2 & Samsung BDP1400 DVD players, Sanyo Z2 projector Two Channel system: Yamaha RX-V995, Mission 764i's & A/D/S MS3u sub Yamaha KX-393 Tape deck, CDC 805 5 disc CD changer, LG DV7832NXC DVD player, Motorola HD-PVR, Sony KP-53HS30 rear projection HDTV, turntable PS-T20 Nintendo Wii | |||

The instructor and I had a falling out, and I quit, with two quarters to go. I was out a year, and went back to finish. While I was gone, the school dropped the photography as a major. I graduated with a commercial art degree. Haven't done much photography, in over 30 yrs. I've forgotten everything I knew, since I didn't keep at it. I have missed it.......... | ||||

| Re: Tell us what you're shooting with. Sony DSC P71. A few years old now and only 3MP. Heavy and chunky compared with the latest cameras. I can't believe how much I paid for it!! I could buy a budget digital SLR for that price now. I have it set to average half a Meg per image on auto to speed up resetting after each exposure. Tiny viewing screen is a major disadvantage. I'm still looking for a replacement camera with a nice big ~3" screen. But not a touch screen! The Sony has a video-out socket which I have used successfully with a 5" CRT TV to frame and focus for astronomy shots (Mercury and Venus solar transits, Moon etc). A larger LCD screen would have been even better and prices are still falling! Very slow to take an image after pressing the shutter button which makes it hopeless for action shots like cycle races. Video is very poor despite tripods, lights and endless attempts to capture moving machinery and woofer cone movement. Just too few, low res. frames per second. Slow to download from first generation Sony patent Memory Stick. The camera has been totally reliable even after taking many thousands of shots. I take more shots per week now than I did in a year with my full Olympus OM1n SLR/Zuiko lens set up. The Sony camera goes everywhere with us. Even just down to the shops. I saw an OM2 body going for $5 in a flea market the other day. It used to be my dream camera for years! I left it for somebody else to enjoy. ![]() | |||

| Re: Tell us what you're shooting with. Canon 350D is what I have... and it's just a perfect camera for me. Although it's perfect for me, the camera itself isn't perfect. The worst thing in it is that very dark and small viewfinder (and all the rest things in it are good ). The viewfinder itself is what it's supposed to be (for 350D), but compared to my old Canon AV-1 the viewfinder is just a piece of you-know-what...all in all, it's a great camera especially when equipped with 50mm/1.8 lens with it. | |||

| Re: Tell us what you're shooting with. Olympus E10, I have just over 4,700 pictures with it. I have learned quite a bit about it and PhotoShop in the past 5 years. I would love to pick up a D300 from Nikon or a 40D from Canon. But heck if I had the money I would just go out and get the 5D from Canon. oops I have a Metz flash unit for it that makes all the difference in the world for indoor and some outdoor pictures. -john Last edited by fibreKid; 10-24-07 at 06:17 PM. | Re: Tell us what you're shooting with. I've been snapping away at things as a hobby for almost 30 years now but I'm only just getting into using digits for more serious snapping. Until recently I used only film, with the following gear: Analogue 35mm: Contax RTSIII body x 2 Contax S2 body Contax S2b body 12 Contax lenses Ricoh GR1S, GR21 Hasselblad X-PanII with 30/5.6 and 45/4 lenses Analogue 645: Contax 645 kit 3 lenses Analogue other: Canham 4x5 Fuji GX617 And digital was just for convenience with a Sony DCS-P71 - bought it years ago primarily for taking pics of stuff to put on eBay and for snapping straightforward 'record' shots of recording venues on site visits and of recording rigs set up for future reference. It's taken a hammering but still seems to work, even if my cellphone now has a camera with the same pixel count! In the last year or so I've been taking digital a lot more seriously. The big kick start on this was a family holiday this summer where we were away for five weeks and the quantity of film I carried around was both heavy and cumbersome compared to my wife's digital camera and laptop to back up on. So now I'm looking properly at the whole digital thing and have so far arrived at: Leica V-Lux-1 - basically the expensive version of the Pansonic FZ-50 with slightly different software set up to produce cooler/less over saturated colours. Got it (secondhand at a very good price which made it comparable to the Panasonic)for the wife to use on a 5 week family holiday in India, then found myself using it at least as much as she was! Nikon D2Xs - I tried the Canon EOS1D/EOS 5D but found the Nikon much more comfortable to hold. After much playing with one in shop and a week long loan from a friend who uses them professionally and who lent me some lenses to play with, I bought a secondhand one to try out properly. The small sensor is a little frustrating as I like wideangle lenses and it multiplies focal lengths compared to 35mm but so far I like the results enough to have pre-ordered D3 (full frame sensor - hooray!) and D300 with a couple of lenses. I plan to check them out over a few weeks and sell onj whichever I like least. Now I just have to properly gear up with the computer, software, printer, then a film scanner, and all the other bits and bobs! Not the cheapest hobby! I won't be abandoning film yet a while as I still love using it, the film camera hardware is now worth so little that it isn't really worth selling, and I've yet to feel any kind of confidence in archiving of digital photos/media but the convenience and low running costs of digital are very beguiling. | Re: Tell us what you're shooting with. I don't remember this forum the last time I was at the shack. Very cool! I just gave my 9 year old my Olympus C-3000. He's actually got a wonderful eye. I'm dying to see what he does with it. My stuff: Canon 350D/Rebel XT 18 - 55 mm, F3.5-5.6 EF-S lens 70 - 200 mm, F/4L USM (Early Christmas present from wife) I shot just over 300 pics through the L lens this past Saturday at my son's soccer game. I don't remember clicking off that many during the hour long game. Very nice lens. | |||

| Re: Tell us what you're shooting with. On film I use a Pentax MZ60 with twin kit lens, UV filters, shadow hoods and a sigma EF-430ST flash. On digital we are using a kodak C330. We will be upgrading to a DSLR, just don't know when. "Until mankind is peaceful enough not to have violence on the news, there's no point in taking it out of shows that n |
