Does anyone sell prints?

I've been debating getting into selling prints, but I really don't know where to start. I've got a site (showcase only as of now) and am thinking of entering something in a county fair (favorites appreciated)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Does anyone sell prints?

I am currently building up a collection from artists to sell online. Kind of like an online art gallery/store, where folks can post their art and sell it at their own prices.

Also a local fair and local art shops are great places to sell art work. Especially if it's local art at a local fair or store.

Let me know if you'd be interested in featuring your art in my online gallery.

Re: Does anyone sell prints?

There's a yahoo group called artshow_photo that's very useful. Larry Berman, the organizer, has a great faq page with lot's of good info. I've sold a few prints from my website, but my impression is that people who do well use it as an adjunct to location selling. In other words, people who include information about their website when they sell prints at artfairs or other venues get a fair number of online sales from people who've bought their work in person. People who buy art often want to have a connection with the artist, and with just an online store there really isn't any such connection.

Another example in onexposure.net. Lot's of us there have "prints availabe" listed with our portforlios, but the only people I know of who've sold anything have done so have been those who've promoted sales the old-fashioned way.
