Control Surface Suggestions

Hi everyone.

I'm currently editing audio in Adobe Audition 3, and video in Premiere Elements 4. I'm looking for suggestions for a control surface.

Up until a couple days ago, I was using a Tascam US-428, but was only using it as a control surface, and not as an audio interface (Using Line6 Toneport UX2 for that). Obviously, that was overkill for a control surface, so it's currently listed on ebay.

Fact was, I'm certainly a mouse editor with one exception, I love the shuttle wheel. I definitely don't need channel level controls, I won't miss transport controls, but I love that wheel. Is there a simple USB control surface out there, under $200 (cheaper the better), that's basic and features a shuttle wheel (preferably with the little thumb indent), that will work with Audition and Premiere Elements?

Thanks in advance.

Marshall

Here are several great options.

You really don't need the faders????

I couldn't live without faders.

Re: Control Surface Suggestions

This one must be a hot item. Under $40

Now, I've never used it so do your research before you buy, but it seems very flexible and mentions audio use in the description.

Hope it's what you need.

No, most of my stuff is radio style, set it and forget it compression. When I do music, it's usually demo quality, simple 2-3 part arrangements, so once again, very little level management on individual channels.

I do a lot of content editing though, so scrubbing is probably my most used task.

I have seen the griffin in person, and it may be what I end up going with. If I could pay a little more and find something with transport controls, I wouldn't mind, but to be honest, the one thing keeping me from buying the griffin...the little thumb indent. I know it's dumb, but that little thumb indent is great.

Beggers can't be choosers though. Thanks for the options.

Edit: I wonder if I should get 2, one for scrub, one for zoom. I can see it now, buying $400 worth of knobs when I should just buy a $400 control surface.

Now here's an idea, when if the knob could switch modes easily. F1=scrub mode, F2=zoom mode, F3=Level control (there's your fader). If that's not how the knob works, it should be. I'll have to research the product, and suggest that functionality if it doesn't already exist, 'cause that would be perfect.

Re: Control Surface Suggestions

This one looks like a winner, but I'm having a hard time finding info on it, any experience? I'm wondering if it only works with teleprompter software:

Re: Control Surface Suggestions

I couldn't tell you. I don't see anything mentioning audio use or even versatile use...
