My Latest Symphony Concert Recording

March 1st, saw me again in the concert hall, recording the top musicians in the Classical music field. This time, a prominent cellist hired me to record her performance and we did a four camera shoot, employing a new camera from Sony's CineAlta line.

Frame grabs from the video are too big to post here, but we did a test render at "internet" resolution from the new CineAlta cam, just to see how it would come out. The program has yet to be edited for A-B-C-D-roll cuts, but this one camera looks like a moving photograph.

Another ORchestra Shoot--First with EX1

Saturday, March 1, I was commissioned by a cellist to record the concert of a symphony with 66 orchestra players performing Dvorak's Cello Concerto in B minor.

Although the project is still in the rough editing phases, I thought I'd share one of the daily rushes with ya'll:

I never would have believed it, but the EX1's clarity is very noticable, compared to the two HVR-V1Us and the Canon HV20 (conductor CU cam), but this WMV video shows how much more crisp the EX1 picture survives the compression horrors of internet video.

Sound is a mixdown from the front three mics of a surround array that were flown over the 4th row at 18' height. Brave are the boys who rigged it up for me!
