I have a SC-E92D16:9 Mustang screen that I would like to set-up to be triggered by my BenQ W500 unit, but I'm unsure of the total amp requirements. Is there a min or max milliamp spec and the Mustang unit comes with a RF remote and a hard lined up/down switch, will a universal remote(Harmony 880) trigger if setup as a macro for projector?

Is the screen run by power from the 12V trigger? That seems wrong to me somehow, I didn't think the 12V was supposed to be anything but a signal. (Voltage, no current.)

The 880 should be able to run the screen up and down via IR signal, I checked and they have Mustang under Add Device>Home automation>Home appliance. Just add that to activities that use the PJ, and you should be good.

I agree with tenzip. Although I have a fixed frame screen I looked into retractable screens at one time.

All the ones I saw needed to be hardwired or plugged into an outlet for power to the motor. The trigger is just a remote control setup so when you power your projector on it sends a control signal to the screen telling it to drop down. When you shut the projector off the control voltage is removed and the screen retracts. It doesn't power the motor in the screen, it just controls a relay within the screen.

As far as universal remotes, yes you can create a macro that will turn the projector on, lower the screen, turn the AVR on, select the appropriate input, turn your cable box or DVD player on and you can even program it to dim your lights and close your curtains if they have remote controls. Actually, with something like the Pronto (don't know anything about the Harmony remote to be honest) you won't even need to run a line to the trigger out on the projector... the remote will just lower and raise the screen based on the macro you create.

Yep, the Harmony 880 will do the same thing, they call their macros "activities", same thing, different terminology.

The screen has an IR remote, and Mustang screens are in the list of supported devices, so the 880 should work with it. One button push, the PJ, source, processing/amplification all come on, screen comes down, and you're ready to go.

Where you hide the power cord for the screen is another question.
