I get the impression from this website that is it 4Ohm. However, I have always thought it was 8Ohm, and infact I have been using it at 8Ohm for about a week.
It's 4ohm nominal. The RE is listed as 3.5ohms. The minimum impedance in whatever enclosure that you are using is likely around 4ohms or a little above.
There is a range of different different Ohms on there, so I dont know which I should be looking at. My amp has a 6Ohm-8Ohm setting, which is what i am currently using. Should I be using the 4Ohm setting?
See what I posted above. RE is 3.5 ohm. Look at the blue line representing impedance on the link that you posted. Note the value in the range of interest 20-100hz assuming you are using it as a sub. It dips to right at 4ohms minimum as I guessed it would do in your enclosure. Set your amp for 6ohm operation for safety. If you haven't experienced any problems yet, I wouldn't worry about it.
RE and measured in box impedance curve, trumps some nominal impedance value always.
I purchased the Peerless 830500 XLS 12" subwoofer from parts express. What I mean is that I have been using the 6-8Ohm setting on my amplifier and not the 4Ohm setting.
Im a bit confused really. I dont know which I should be using, and I dont know what the result of using the wrong Ohm setting. If it dips to 4Ohm, and ive set my sub to 6-8Ohm, what will be the result?
I don't see any such switch shown on that amp. However if there is one, I suggest placing it in the 4-ohm position.
